I think I've mentioned this to you guys before, but one of my roles at the University is providing trainings to faculty and staff on how to be an ally to the LGTB community... when I started the presentations there were only 5 states that recognized same-sex marriages and it seemed unlikely that any significant changes would happen any time soon.
So for me it's amazing to see how in 7 years the landscape of marriage for same-sex couples can be totally changed. There is still a lot to do in this country and world before all people are recognized and treated as equals, and I don't believe I will see that in my lifetime, but I'm happy that today something positive happened.
