I know I will always have my SW PF's. But I have a feeling there will be a battle at some point in the next year or two between LOTR and Marvel PF's. Right now Marvel is kicking the hell out of LOTR (partly due to qty, but mainly due to quality). Lurtz is great but can't even compare to the top 2-3 Marvel PF's. SS really needs to up the ante with quality and quantity in this line for it to survive.

I think you are all wrong, the naysayers on here that is!! I think in time this will be a very collectible item and there will be a whole lot of people who will be very sorry they didn't pick up Gandalf the White by SS in the future, I really do!! I think we are bombarded with brilliant collectibles in every line whether its SW or LOTR or whatever and its becoming very difficult to decide what to spend our money on but in time I do believe we will look back and see just how excellent the SS LOTR collection is/was!! There won't be another Gandalf the White from SS guys, certainly not on this scale!!

My opinion is this peice took what little steam this line had left...

The Legendary Gandalf bust however is excellent..:monkey5

See for me I'm just the opposite. I wouldn't trade any of the LOTR PF for any of the Marvel. Not that those aren't good but I like LOTR way way way more.

And so do I. That just goes to show how big a difference in quality there is between the two right now.

If certain things aren't changed on this I will be inclined to cancel my order as well. Sideshow's making it pretty easy to stay out of the LOTR PF line. :monkey1

Lurtz is great. Frodo wasn't bad actually, I liked it. The crossed eyed look wasn't too noticeable on mine, so I kept it. This one, GTW really needs fixing. We may not get another GTW, but we are probably going to get another gandalf PF (grey), so there's room for second chances. In the end, the sculpt is what sells, not the line. GTG bust sold pretty well because it was a homerun sculpt. This PF is just funny looking, it is off IMHO. I think a lot of people would have bought it if it looked better. I didn't like the weta GTW either, so not sure what's up.

Unfortunately, I think you are very much mistaken. I had it on order and already canceled. I have no regrets. I just saw too many problems with the piece, and the likelihood that they will be corrected is so slim that I didn't see the point in getting my hopes up.

Ironically, with Frodo, I was willing to accept a certain amount of disappointment, since the overall depiction of the character was exactly what I wanted. But with Gandalf as I've said before (probably too many times), the White was already my second choice, so for me to be compelled to buy it, it would have to be an unquestionably brilliant piece in every detail. And this piece is not. Sorry.

Now, if they every get around to producing a Grey, and it is even half as good as the LSB, I'll be first in line to buy it.

It's all in where your personal interest is. If you like Marvel, buy Marvel. If you like LOTR, buy LOTR.

I still stand by the fact that Marvel sells so well due to a couple of early pieces turning into "grails" and now all the flippers want to ca$h in so they fly off the shelves. Look at ebay if you want proof. Right after the SIM went on sale at SS it started hitting ebay for $600 and up RIGHT AWAY.

It's not that everyone "wants" Marvel. It's that people want to ca$h in and the suckers buying them at those prices want to say they own a "grail".

I'd agree with that. I think there are a lot of people looking to make a quick buck off Marvel.

Not all marvel sells so well, just the majority of LOW ES pieces.

As for those "suckers", some are probably well educated and make great income, to them, $800 is not much and is very affordable. The majority of the scalpers are kinda the opposite.

Not just Marvel, anything that they can turn for a profit. For every low ES, there will flipper/scalper to take advantage of the situation.

Nah, it's just that they live in their folks basement and don't have any real bills so they don't mind dropping $800 on a statue :lol

Also, you're saying "scalpers" are not well educated and have low incomes. Well, they were educated enough to make a good income off suckers willing to pay 5 times retail for a statue.

Heh, thats what I was reffering to the scalpers as. I guess Flipping burgers at McD's is not very profitable, j/k.

A monkey could figure that out :monkey1

That's got to be one of the most arrogant posts I have ever seen. You have no clue what you're talking about. You're making a large assumption with no factual basis whatsoever.
