. . .he does have 2 legs . . . :D

I actually like that picture of him, and thats what got me off the fence to order him. But still think it goes to Weta on this one.

It's not Iron Man stealth quick but it's only been a few hours . . .

I would think a 1 day sell out is still pretty damn good for a $300.00 figure . .

I think you are all spoiled . . .:monkey1

:D

I don't think there was ever a question that he would indeed sell out eventually, though.

Yeah, some people act like this piece is so TERRIBLE though that it might never sell out. I mean some of the comments I read was this piece ranked among the worst ever made. Which is so not true.

5!

I'm glad it will only take the day to sell out. Hopefully this will demonstrate that there are fans of the line out there.

It all depends on how many cancellations there are. I know of several people who pre-ordered just to be safe, but still aren't sure whether to keep or cancel (myself included). If the number of cancellations exceeds the number of wait list orders, and we see Gandalf show up on Second Chance, it won't bode well.

And if we're being completely honest, 8 hours to sell out a pretty low ES of one of the core characters from something as popular as LOTR isn't exactly something worth shouting from the rooftops. Not when a more expensive figure from another line with a much higher ES sold out very quickly (and no, I'm not talking about SIM, but the Exclusive Darth Maul PF).

TRUE. I hope it doesnt take away the possibility of a stance and 'stache resculpt though. SSC would definitely bolster my confidence if they heard the fans on this one...

They're not gonna go resculpting the stance. I honestly don't think they'll make many changes if any based on what was said at SDCC. As far as SW selling out faster than LOTR right now SW is one of the hottest things going. LOTR isn't nearly as hot. So I'm not surprised at all.

Well I got back from my weekend roadtrip just in time to see this guy (the Exclusive version anyway) almost sold-out so I bit the bullet and ordered one... Still not 100% sold on it though and a cancellation might be in his future.
:gandalf_w?

I don't think it's a real core character, as he's not part of the original fellowship.
So far Frodo is the only one from the original 9, but he had some major issues, although I think it's a beautifull piece.

I think they really need to make a Gimli or Boromir or another badguy !

As much as I love GTG I don't understand why people put him so far above GTW as a "core" character. If we are talking movies then GTG was only in the first 1/2 to 2/3 of the first movie while GTW was in 2 of 3 films. Even if you want to include the novels then GTG is in the Hobbit as well so it's 2-2.

That said, I would have liked GTG more than GTW as well, but I don't see how people can feel GTW is not a "core" character. He is IMO.

I think it's because you don't spend as much "time" with the character . . . or at least it seems that way . . . and also GTW seems a little detached and not as warm as GTG . . .

JMO . . . :)

GTW was given a sole purpose upon his return to Middle-earth...GTG was a warm kind, loving old wizard that was leading his normal Istari life until his run-in with Saruman and the Balrog. GTG is a much more LOVABLE character...GTW was quiet, firm, and dedicated to a sole purpose...the defense of and placement of MAN as the caretaker's of Middle-earth. He knew his time was short no matter what and was VERY focused.

Bottom line...we just LOVE the old wizened GTG much better...kinda like we LOVE Obi-Wan the old hermit instead of the glowing version...even though glowing version was in 2 films as opposed to the old wizard version in only 1.
