Yea, that Aragorn is the best I've seen. Only thing that turns me off is the whole jewelry case deal...it's a deal breaker, unfortunately =(

You know I think I agree with you, I think the reason my "gotta have it" factor isn't higher, is the keepsake box. Perhaps that is why I am willing to sit on the sidelines longer, I just don't want to find my son's Cheerios (or worse) in it. :monkey1

If these are the same overall size as their Star Wars busts, then that little drawer just has to be absolutely tiny! What the heck are you going to put in it?

I would never open the drawer, but it would bug me to collect a line where the bases don't match each other.

I like the original bases for each character. It adds a little bit more to the overall feel of it. At least to me. It'll be interesting to see how many they can come up with for all the characters. I'm starting to get more excited about this line and hope to see some great pics from SDCC.

Another LOTR bust series and it's my Viggo up first.... o. my. freaking. gawd! I'm doomed. :aragorn How'm I gonna break this to my hubby, who truly really believed that my LOTR collecting had finally found an end? (mebbe I'll just hide them for a while until I can ease him into the idea:monkey3 )

hmm.. try to convince him that you bought it not because it's a lotr bust but because you needed a jewellery box? ok who are we going to kid :monkey1

all the talk about the drawer, all i can say is it could have been much worse. which is better, the way it is now that the drawer is integrated into the base or having a base which basically looks like a drawer completely and no design/environment like now? just try to imagine aragorn's upper torso joined to a drawer.

that said, from the pics, i can't really make out where the drawer is so i think that's quite good isn't it? perhaps one wouldn't know there's a drawer that can be pulled out if he wasn't told. but the idea of putting the drawer there i've to agree on that it is silly. just what can one put inside?? paper clips?

i think that part wasn't actually meant to be used. it was added for the reasons on licensing issues, they can't be similar to what weta has done i guess.

Hi Everyone,

I'm happy with the Strider Bust myself. GG does great work and I collect their SW and HP lines and I'm happy these are coming out. I will never compare them to a SS/Weta Bust because they are smaller and as for the drawer, I will probably have 2 Striders, 1 at work on my desk holding paperclips and 1 at home with the rest of my collection. I hope they show future GG LOTR stuff at the con this week.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike, you can expect an order from me if the LOTR animated Saruman maquette is officially announced.

But I'm not going to get started with the GG LOTR busts. :monkey2

Nice to see you make an appearence Mike. I don't know if we'll get to see any more LOTR busts, but I'd hope to see the first couple animated maquettes. Also looking forward to the next Potter busts to be announced.

These are for tomandshell (i know that you are a Gentle Giant Harry Potter Nut like me ) and anybody else who collects the Harry Potter line as well as LOTR.
Here are a couple of pics for you of the two new Harry Potter busts!.
I don't know if anyone has seen these pics before.
They are absolutely awesome with spot on likenesses as usual:chew

He did post these in his SDCC pics thread. They are amazing, as usual. GG is really setting the bar for busts right now. It doesn't look like they've skipped a beat with the LOTR line either.

I hadn't seen pictures of those busts yet. They just keep getting better and better. That mad eye moody is dead on.

Thanks for these clear pics!

They were on display and looked really terrific, but they were behind an acrylic window with lighting that made pictures tough to get, plus they were on automated turntables and were spinning around in circles. Nearly impossible to get pictures that were clear and legible. These pictures are great! Can't wait to order these, as well as Hagrid. They also had a miniature environment piece of Tom Riddle's grave. (Didn't get a picture of that one.)

I'm not sure if the grave environment is going to be up for sale. Last year they had a few pieces that were just done as special window dressing and atmosphere for the show, which were not intended to be produced for sale. This looked like it might have been something like that.

I was a little bummed that the Merperson statue was a no show...

Many thanks for the Hagrid pic tomandshell!. Absolutely awesome:banana
I love the fact that he is holding the lamp and his crossbow. That's the thing that i really like about Gentle Giant's busts....the fact that they have arms and you can really get some fantasticly dynamic poses!.

Shame about Tom Riddle's Grave but then i suppose i'm a bit relieved in some ways as it means my money won't be disappearing quite as quick!.

And i totally forgot about the Merperson statue. I have seen that one advertised on a couple of sites over here in the UK but i can't for the life of me remember which ones!. I feel a bit of searching coming on.
