I haven't seen the movie (and I find it hard to believe that EVERY male is a negative stereotype) but in the original the male protagonists are often depicted as frustratingly stupid, narrow minded and arrogant when dealing with Dana and Janine. There's also the female villain at the end who they are powerless against.

I'm not arguing one way or the other. I'm just up too early with no coffee yet having "thoughts." :lol
I'll be seeing this over the weekend with an open mind. :)

I think everyone has forgotten the opening scene in the original. The blonde airhead girl doing the psychic test.
I don't get what the contextual difference is. Cliche blonde bimbo/cliche blonde himbo?

That's one character, at the beginning of the film, in a movie made 3 decades ago that wasn't meant to be a cultural milestone. Not even close to the same situation.

The original is like the OT, it's immune to criticism.

:lol Agreed. Immune, but not free from criticism.

Really not the same. She seem to know what was going on, and if you remember the male subject was the blunt of the joke.

also don't remember them dispatching Gozer by shooting her in her Vag.
