I can't wait for The Godmother.

:lol Has no one mentioned they're spending $145 Million on this. SONY thinks they can make a comedy for $145 million that the fan base wants nothing to do with.

Best news I've ever heard. That budget will kill the franchise once and for all.

I predict This will make well over $300 million and get a sequel announced within 2 weeks of its release.

I agree with this... it will be terrible, but still make a crap load of money enough for a even more terrible sequel.

I don't know man. Look at the success of those Transformers films, TMNT, etc. You can put out pure ****, but so long as you can hit the right notes to appeal to the mass public based on some vague brand recognition and lowest-common-denominator humor and action, then you're golden apparently.

Yeah but it's the Turtles. How many interested adults, and various younger audience wanted to see it? Plenty. I myself finally saw Ghostsbusters for the first time as a 22 year old, 3 months ago. I'd say it's set for a selected audience, and considering many are not cool with the cast, I'd say it's pretty much set to be doomed. But it's Sony, they'll keep making **** to try and make money.

Transformers sure, but like Crows said, Turtles didn't make that much. It's getting a sequel purely because the Nick show is still carrying a huge fanbase. Ghostbusters doesn't have a built in kid fan base. The last cartoon ended in 1997. The Lego Ghostbusters are still rotting on TRU shelves.

Also, those are straight up action movies. Ghostbusters is comedy first and foremost. And a pretty adult comedy at that(remember more serious films appealed to a broader audience of kids in the 80s). For a non-Lego movie type of deal, this budget is way too big.

Chris Hemsworth is the new receptionist...

Marvel Star Chris Hemsworth Cast In Ghostbusters | Comicbook.com

Insiders say the studio went to Hemsworth very early on in the process for one the major male roles but the Aussie actor thought the role to be too small and passed. Since then Sony sent the script back to be reworked so the part could be beefed up and it looks as if the latest draft is to Hemsworth’s liking.
