I see that pretty much every media outlet is still pushing the 'original had FOUR scientists, and needed someone ordinary' crap..... Has anyone actually SEEN GB1???!!!???!!

No wonder Murray never wanted to do a sequel...if this is the BEST story line they could come up with....

Comedy is truly dead in America.

Adjusted for inflation, Ghosbusters made around $630m domestic. It was initially released without a big marketing blitz, so it didn't come out swinging like movies do now, but interest gradually grew due to word of mouth that resulted in it being "re-released" later that same year.

I doubt GB16 will make anywhere near that. Even with much more marketing and a wider release (GB84 wasn't widely released overseas).

For perspective, the recent Star Wars movie has made just under a billion domestically thus far, and it has the power of Star Wars behind it. The recently rebooted Terminator: Genisys made just under $100m domestic and it didn't have nearly the amount of hate GB16 has. Sony's Amazing Spider-Man 2 made around $200m domestic ($700m worldwide) and was considered a flop for Sony, because Sony Pictures was so far in the red.

Sony was also hoping to build their own Spider Cinematic Universe off of ASM2, but when it didn't return as well as they'd hoped those plans got flushed. I wouldn't be surprised if the same happens here.

I'm gonna be generous here and say GB16 will make around $300m domestic. And given the fact that it seems well over 50% of people seem to think it looks bad (if not outright detesting it) it'll be hard to break that.

Yeah. He's literally written as a dumb blonde. He's eye candy for women, and Wiigs character is supposed to be infatuated by him, constantly fawning over his looks. You know. All the things that men get labeled misogynists for doing. It's not sexual harassment if the secretary is a guy. It's comical.
