I didn't post the worst part, when Bill Murray and the original cast shows up to promote the film and they dance to the GB theme and sit for an interview.

That really bothered me because for 10 years Bill Murray wanted nothing to do with GB3, and therefore they couldn't make the film because they either needed his permission for some reason, or he wouldn't give a definitive answer and in the process of all that waiting Harold Ramis died, ending the possibility of a GB3. And now that Ramis is dead, Murray not only is in this film, but he's promoting it? That's terrible, imo.

If they said, "If you're unsure about this movie based on the trailers that's fine but if you come and see it we're sure you'll be entertained" that would be one thing. But "if you don't think our movie looks awesome it's because you're a sexist loser who sucks at life," yeah, forget it, any shred of "what the hell, let's give them a chance" just went right out the window.

They still think it's a sexist issue when it's really not. The movie doesn't look bad because they are female, the movie looks bad because their characters look bad, the humour looks terrible and the whole thing just looks really bad.

At the end of the video. "I'm Jimmy Kimmel, if you liked that......" :rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

Kimmel was annoying but I didn't know how much of a cuck he is.

Ghostbusters is not Murray's IP and he has never had any say over whether a sequel can be made, only whether or not he would participate. If Columbia Pictures, Ramis, Reitman, and Aykroyd didn't like him dragging his feet they could have made a sequel without him at any time. The reason there was no GB3 is because *none of them* chose to make it. It's not like he's suddenly the star of this new one anyway. Apparently he thought that collecting a paycheck for an hour of work was worth it, and why not?

Actually, according to Aykroyd, Murray was part owner of the property along with Ramis, Ivan, Ackroyd and the studio.

Well, I have one-fifth of the voice, along with the partners and the other owner of the property, the picture company, and Ivan [Reitman], Billy [Murray], and myself, and Harold [Ramis]. We all have to sign off on it unanimously — uh, I’m not sure Billy does anymore, since he abrogated his rights by sort of, by saying, two years ago he said, “I don’t want to be involved,” and the picture company I think had some clause in there that if he actually passed on the third of fourth offer, he no longer has a view of the franchise. So, that’s for the lawyers to decide. Of course, I’d love to have Billy call me tomorrow and say, “Let’s go to work and start writing.”

We can’t wait forever. And now’s the time to tell the picture company, and I’d say this quite publically, it’s time now to sit down and make this movie, or you will lose your main principals, and you won’t be able to make it without us, because we have rights, and now is time to make the movie… You don’t take advantage of that in the next three or four months,

Your quoted text literally has Aykroyd saying he thought they could make it without Murray. Obviously they didn't look into it because they decided not to try and make it without him. Still their choice. Again, it's not like Murray held things up and is now this huge fixture of the new movie. Supposedly he's in it for less than a minute. Even if he *did* hold it up so what. These are famous millionaires who make silly movies for a living. I'm not going to shed a tear for them if a third film that probably would have sucked anyway never got made. And I know for a fact that Harold Ramis doesn't give a crap one way or another right now.

He said it was up to the lawyers, and that he wasn't sure. But the fact remains that Murray was part owner and for a period of time he wouldn't give an answer. Even Murray himself said during an interview he hadn't read the script...yet. By 2013, they were moving forward without him finally, but then Ramis died, so that ended the project which involved a movie with the original cast minus Murray "passing the torch" to a young generation.

I AM crying deeply on the inside. This is not just a silly movie.
Its the start of a trend, the start of a movement.

Ghostbusters didn't need a sequel. GB2 didn't either. You have 4 hours of Ghostbusters films with the original cast. If it's really deeply upsetting that you don't have 6 or 8 or 10 hours worth of GB movies then, I don't know, get a real problem maybe? ;)

The problem is the kind of movie we got and the kind of marketing they are doing by shaming fans.

I think that's going to backfire on them. I can't think of an instance where a cast and director collectively called their own fans losers and then were rewarded by having a hit movie. If the new GB *is* a hit it will only be because McCarthy herself has a big enough fanbase that doesn't care what kind of movie she stars in.

Good point. It never helps to bash your fanbase. Then again, B. Singer and Michael Bay come to mind....

Wait, are we talking about Space Jam?

It's not the end of the world. We survived BvS didn't we?

:goodpost:

Don't you guys think it's telling that with all this hoopla we haven't heard anything about early reactions to screenings? Is the movie so bad that Sony is afraid to screen it or is it so bad that even the Twitter shills won't stick their necks out for it?

This does it. I am really ****ing sick of this ******** that these people keep spewing. I want this movie to **** itself with a cactus, crawl into a hole and die. I don't care what it's actually like or whether it's any damn good at all, I'm just so tired of this awful marketing. crows is right, they're marketing the movie and getting press by shaming fans who mostly have legitimate complaints with how the movie looks. They're chalking any complaint against the movie down to sexism when that is utter crap for the most part.

It's time an interviewer with some actual brains, unlike the sycophantic yes-people who have interviewed them so far, actually grills Feig and McCarthy about this and tells them that fan complaints are actually about the quality of the jokes, not the gender of the cast members. See them squirm out of that one.

At the end of the video. "I'm Jimmy Kimmel, if you liked that......" :rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

He's getting SJW brownie points for this one... :slap

Good god I hope so

Between the original cast endorsing this movie and the stars retaliating against detractors, this is getting messy. And embarrassing.

To me, Ghostbusters ended when Harold Ramis died. I always have the original movie, the sub par sequel and the fantastic game to fall back to.

Just so you people know, if you don't like the trailer, you are a 45 year old lonely man who lives with his mother. #GIRLPOWER

:monkey4

I truly loathe this legbeard, self empowered, free bleeding bull **** movement. I'm so glad I'm marrying a woman that utterly HATES the idea of this ****ing movie since she loves the original dearly, and hates modern feminism in general.

"We can't have female ghostbusters because only men can fight imaginary ghosts in a make believe movie." Has anyone posted anything remotely like this *anywhere?*

Because, you know, that's what these progressive champions are supposedly fighting against according to the Jimmy Kimmel clip.

She'll probably end up buying it for me as a Christmas present, but it's more for her than me probably.

Maybe not here, but these ladies are taking a real beating on Facebook and Twitter. I've seen really bad stuff. I have no desire to see this, but I'd probably get over defensive too if I got half the **** these women have gotten.
