I'll tell you guys. When she said "Kit" on her auction she wasn't kidding. This thing is a bugger to put together.

and gloves on rubber hands? THE SUCK.

But you know what, the shoulders don't bother me at all. I don't know if I just futz'd him really well but he doesn't have that squareness with all his gear on that i expected.

I was also expecting him to look like a hasbro fig next to Sideshow but nope. He looks good. I can see all the stuff I wanna do with him though. It appears that both TB Gimli's are a must. Soft for the head and helmet, roto for the armor.

*sigh*

Just got my DiD Gimli. I was surprised actually at just what a good figure this seems right out of the box. The articulation is better than I expected and the some of the custome is quite nice and the weaponry is excellent. He is about 1/2 inch too tall for my tastes though so I foresee surgery in his future. :devil

How is the DiD sculpt to you?

Good to know about the shoulder thing, that was a major concern of mine. Now maybe I don't have to frankenstein the two bodies together.

Finally received my ToyBiz and DiD Gimli. I'll post some pics tomorrow when I come back home.

You too, same question? Curious what people think after so much debate.

So we need THREE Gimli's to make one? I have two, now where do I get a roto one? What's it called exactly so I'll know what to look for?

Well you don't NEED the Roto but that shoulder armour really helps imo. So glad you guys are geting these. I desided that I'm going to pull the ToyBiz(soft) wrist post out and drill and attach to the cut ends of the DID arms. The gantlets do fit well without but I want it to be as 'factory' as possible.
Good luck to all and be without any slips of the blade.

The sculpt is OK and could definitely use a paint job. It restricts all head movement from what I can tell (not a big deal for Gimli IMO). Seeing it up close it still could be any guy in a beard and helmet though.

So as we all concluded then, the ToyBiz sculpt is still the way to go, slightly small or not.

I think so. the DiD body is good but it wouldn't hurt to take some length from his legs and arms....

Is there a way to swap the DiD hands for Sideshow style hands?

That I don't know.

I'm foregoing the mittens and gautlets of the DiD for the sculpted hands/gauntlets of the TB...as Dwing has done.

I think the mittens are just too big looking, and I don't like the DiD Barbie gauntlets at all.

My DiD should be arriving any time now.

The mittens are impossible (for me) to get on. I tried got 10 minutes and eventually gave up. He has his Hasbro-Dooke style hands on right now. I hate bendies. :cuss :l0l

The DiD mail is not bad. Its comparable to Boromir's. So that will probably be the last bit I get.

What? The DiD maile? You have it in your hand, what do you mean get it?

Dwing says to wash the glitter off the maile, then repaint darker, maybe trim the length a bit if needed, and it should work fine.
