I'm actually thinking of shrinking the Frodo and Sam heads at some point.
Good lord, EC, you're really getting obsessed with this.
I have the same problem much of the time.

A freakin' amazing custom Gimli by Oscar Hertin.
Wanted to repost this. DID sculpt with great paint. He was able to bring Gimli's eyes so this sculpt could work but he also sculpted the brows. Also not this is what he looks like when you shorten the body.
first things first. Let's bust out this Gimli custom before Sideshow decides to rekindle this line and makes a Gimli announcement.
In sculpting Merry & Pippin, should the heads be in better proportion to the bodies which would help in making them appear shorter I think or should they be sculpted to match what Sideshow did with Sam and Frodo? Or.... should they be sculpted in proportion and the Sam & Frodo heads shrunk to match?
I'd keep Merry and Pippen's noggins in scale with Sideshow. Less work and overall, consistent with the line.
Ah Yes, but they grow a good few inches taller after a wee bit of Ent Draught!!
EDIT: on the DID hs you can cut the around the chin areas of the helm to relieve the pulled in look.
It's an awesome dwarf custom, but I can't say that it looks much like Gimli to me. Even the body is considerably too fat.

Yeah, I was trying to show what shortening the body does. I think the eyes sell it for me as Gimli as the rest of the face does not. Whoever/whenever gets these and removes the head will see that the outer face is glued to a 'stem' and that seems to distort the look. I'm sticking with TB.
Side note-tomorrows my Saturday, so I will be doing some customizing:chew
To those that have weathered b4-let me know how to do those boots. My thought is to mix a 'muddy' thin mix of paint and bry brush small layers around the boots and base of the 'skirt'(tranny Gimli). That or I'm going to go play in my kids mud holes and then seal it.
OK, two more Gimlis sold -- who got 'em?
Just got my DiD Gimli. I was surprised actually at just what a good figure this seems right out of the box. The articulation is better than I expected and the some of the custome is quite nice and the weaponry is excellent. He is about 1/2 inch too tall for my tastes though so I foresee surgery in his future.
