Forgive my ignorance, but what is "rotocast"?

Its a technique for making larger plastic figures... but in general means the pieces are hollow plastic. So Toy Biz made two 1/6 versions of Gimli, one is a traditional base body with clothing and the other is all plastic (or rotocast).

You said rotocasting is a technique for making figures "larger", but the rotocast Gimli is actually smaller than the soft one, yeah?

No, not to make a figure larger... but that its usually used on larger sized plastic figures. For instance you don't see 3 3/4" scaled figures made in rotocast, but as you get into larger size ones it keeps the cost of plastics down since you only have a thin layer of plastic instead of a solid piece.

Sorry, bad grammar on my part in the original post :lol

I keep waiting to see your new Gimlis but nothing yet. I want to see what else can be done.
Rotocast is a process in which liquid plastic is poured into a mold. The mold is then rotated to push the plastic to the outside filling all nooks leaving a hollow space.

What exactly are you waiting for Dwing?

I just got a notice that my TB Gimli (sorry Chase and Craw) is shipping tomorrow so I won't be able to really get mine started until then.

Dwing How much did you take off of DiD Gimli's arms and how did you attach the TB gauntlets to it? I am technically challenged so explain to me as you would to a child. :lol

Also could we get a picture on where you made the cuts at?

My Gimli has been put on the back burner for now.

Just sent $70 too Marc, so wont have much extra cash for another week or so.

On the bright side I should get my DiD Gimli, Indy, ClonObi, Lara Croft,Rocky statue and some books from amazon this week :rock

I will have plenty to keep me busy until I go after another TB Gimli.

I don't think there are any TB Gimli's up right now anyway... seems the well had run dry for a bit :lol

I think I'm going to use as much of the DiD as possible... but things like the Gaunlets and other bits will have to come from the TB figure.
