What exactly are you waiting for Dwing?
I just got a notice that my TB Gimli (sorry Chase and Craw) is shipping tomorrow so I won't be able to really get mine started until then.
Dwing How much did you take off of DiD Gimli's arms and how did you attach the TB gauntlets to it? I am technically challenged so explain to me as you would to a child.
Also could we get a picture on where you made the cuts at?
There are TB Gimlis on Amazon for $18?
Really, I just looked and the one listed was like $50... any assist would be nice

is deceptive. It shows the 12" figure there, but when you click on the $18 one the seller is selling in their store, it shows the 6" plastic figure: https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/..._shr?_encoding=UTF8&m=A32CL24DHHCEAZ&v=glance
EDIT: Hope that wasn't the one you were talking about, Blu Falcon.
and it's even odder. The product description is about the 6" one, but the review is about the 12".
Wow guys, thanks for the comments. The repaint took only 30 min-still need the details done. From the pics I've seen Gimli should be at shoulder height to humans and Hobbits shoulder height to Gimli. Problem is SS hobbits are to tall. If someone took off 1/4" from both the hobbits and the DID Gimli it would look correct. Also the hobbits hs are way to big for hobbits.
For my Gimli:
I kept the brn under shirt but cut the sleeves at a 45' about a 1/2" down from the inside of the sleeve-this allows for the sleeve to be tucked into the DML maile(if you raise his arms the body can show).
The arms where cut back about 1/4"(they looked to long with the TB gaunlets)-also they had a pretty good fit that way and I have not added the ball and socket as it has not been needed.
The maile was also cut but I would advise cutting as little as possible to start.
This way when you push on the gaunlets they will rinkle alittle at the elbows.
I widened the neck hole on the TB-it fits ok but with the cloack on it barely fits. You could use the ball and socket from the TB and drill/epoxy the the socket into the DID neck.
The DID maile was cut at the sleeves and painted darker(still needs to be darker). I really think it more closely matches the picture.

That's about it except that I have the rotocast Gimli and I will cut off the shoulder armour and attach it to the figure.

I really hope everyone gets the DID Gimli-I know I also will keep watching and if I can I will buy him and post so whoever wants one can get one.
Yeah the second one is the Roto one, that's where I got mine too. I just dremeled out the shoulder armor today. The plastic was very brittle in spots. When removing his boots, one snapped in half. Good thing I wasn't planning on using them.
Got the DiD Gimli in the mail today... way faster than I expected him to show up! Decent figure, but kind of a pain in the ass to get dressed
Did you get those blasted gloves on?
Yeah, I didn't have much trouble with that... but got annoyed after getting glitter all over the place and put him away for a bit.
It occurred to me, seeing everyone use the DiD and then seeing the DiD compared to Gimli, that I should actually try to make it work. Especialy considering that after comparing the ToyBiz Gimli to SSC's Frodo and discovering that Frodo is taller... But listening to everyone talk about taking 1/2 inch off the legs, arms, etc. had me a bit paranoid and ready to box it up for shipping. However, after giving it a second look, I found a cheater's way to mod the body for those of us who aren't customizing Gods.
To lower the body but keep it taller than the Hobbit body, was actually rather easy. I removed the abdominal midsection. It comes in two parts, the abs that sit on the waist and the ones that sit under the torso. I removed the ones that sit under the torso. It was as easy as cracking it apart, removing it, cracking apart the upper torso, then dropping it onto the lower part and gluing it shut. Then, to prevent orangutan arms, I cut off the excess of the sockets to shorten them up a bit more. Since I'll be using the TB gauntlets, they'll just slip right over. Then, to utilize the TB rotocast boots which after being cut from the body and plugs removed, can easily be slipped over top like any 1:6 scale boots. To make the DiD feet compatible, I merely cut off the toes. Now he'll be taller than Frodo, but only shoulder-height to say Legolas. Here's the end comparison to the Buck:
Now it's just a matter of modifying the ToyBiz parts to fit here which shouldn't really be hard at all.
TheNam, can you take some pics of that with the Hobbit body?
