Ok. I redressed Gimli and brought Frodo out of storage:

My Roto-Gimli and Soft Gimli should be here by the end of the week. :D

Lookin' good pixle! But damn you for scoring the Roto and the soft Gimli's too! I'm still on the lookout for those...:D

However, you're tutorial is going to come in REALLY handy for when I finally score those guys and get to work on my custom. Thanks for sharing that 'step-by-step' instruction man, you rock! :rock

You're welcome.

Thank thenammagazine too because he was on instant messenger with me giving me the step-by-step. :rock :rock :rock

I was a little impatient as well so give heed to take your time and do the other things nam suggested. :duff

Hmmm... the height adjustment really does make a nice difference. I think I'll be stealing that idea as well :rock

Looks good, pix. My TB soft Gimli should be here this week also.

The roto parts are ready to go. Funny, when dremeling them, I discovered that one shoulder piece was slightly larger and had sharper detail around the edges. Odd.

The only other thing I think I'll replace is the chainmail shirt he's wearing. And I'm not a fan of rubber clothing or accessories, as rubber deteriorates over time. So, no Timeline figure for me. But I wonder if I could use a SS Monty Python and the Holy Grail figure's mail suit instead? I think he'd match up better next to Boromir if both their armours appeared to be made of the same material. Any thoughts?

It's funny you should mention this, because I was just thinking yesterday how I had a set of Monty Python knight mail in my bits box. I dug it out and I think it's workable. It's a bit different material than used on Boromir, but I think it's actually better.

This is what it looks like (thanks to Toy Anxiety, who by the way is sold out of these):

It looked like it would be too tight a fit to just put the shirt on (plus I can't get the figure's head off now) so I cut off the sleeves from the torso part of the shirt and also shortened them to the appropriate length. It's possible that if you were starting from scratch that you could just have the figure wear the shirt, but you'll probably have to shorten sleeves in any case. Then I shortened the pants and split them along the inner leg seam. It's not perfect, but it's way better than what comes with the DiD figure. I haven't seen the rubber Timeline knight mail in person, so I don't know what that's like. It looks goofy without the rest of his outfit on:

But I think it's pretty good when he's all dressed. (I also did a little weathering, but that's still not finished.)

Thanks, I'll be watching... somebody is already bidding on it,
I remember seeing a ton of these at K B Toys back in the day, I'm sure they'll pop-out every now and then...
