Yep, we all are aware of eBay... no need to alert others :lol

I was watching that one too, but I think I'll probably just hang back for a bit and let the fervor die down before getting a TB Gimli.

Sheesh, you try to help people out...

Regarding Merry and Pippen, wouldn't it be possible to simply make a cast of one of the more decent headsculpts from the ToyBiz action figure line and make it larger? It'd probably still need some futzing to make it look good in the larger scale, though. I'm no expert customizer, but maybe one of our more talented Freaks could give us an idea as to whether that would work or whether a brand new sculpt is in order.

Then, it would just be a question of buying another Sam and/or Frodo, swapping out the heads and maybe doing a bit of work on their outfits. And seeing as the exclusive versions of those figures STILL haven't sold out, finding the regular editions at a lower price is a definite possibility in the near future.

Just a thought.

If I were going to start a Merry/Pippin project I would definitely rather commission a sculptor. Maybe using the TB versions as a base wouldn't be a bad idea though. What do they look like?

Jus messin' with ya :peace

No worries, we're cool. :duff

Wish I could tell you. I bought the first wave of ToyBiz figures then immediately turned around and sold them to a buddy when I realized that the 'Biz was going to milk the license with more variants and exclusives than you can shake a stick at.

But I remember that the Frodo headsculpt looked pretty good for such a small scale. And they must have released, what, at least 6 different versions of Merry and/or Pippen over the years. You gotta assume that ONE of those variants would have come close. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

That's a dangerous assumption to make. How many Hans and Lukes has Hasbro made over the years? ;)

I don't think enlarging one of those figures' heads is going to be practical. I think in the end the cost and amount of work might not be that different from having it sculpted from scratch, and I'm sure the level of detail would be worse.

:lecture Good point, well made.

I just checked out a couple of eBay auctions for Merry and Pippen action figures and the head sculpts are absolutely brutal. Looks like a commission is our only option at this point.

Yup. Print and call. I like it. :wacky

I went ahead and got a cloak myself. The guy at Toy Anxiety was like "What is up with these cloaks. Literally the last 4 orders have been for cloaks. Is something going on at the forum?" :lol

He also said that they're working on getting proper credit card processing enabled for their site, but they've hit some snags so it could be a while.

Which one did you get? And what is print and call?

Sorry so stupid. :duh

No such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people who don't ask questions. The elven cloak. And when you order from ToyAnxiety, you'll need to call them and give them a credit card number for payment.
