Ahhh man, what the?! That sucks, I was really hoping to score one there. Anyone know where else I might be able to find one? :banghead

As silly as it sounds, if you can get a $50 gift certificate cheaply, you could just buy one of the hobbits from Sideshow for the cloak. I'm sure you could probably sell the rest or use them for other things. I was considering that, but then I figured that I'd also want a cloak if I make a Merry or Pippen custom, so I'd need an extra in any case. I don't think there are very many other places parting these figures out.

Got my soft Gimli. I broke the neck post trying to get the head off though.

First impression: Its a bit too small but I think after changing the boots and futzing around it will look good (it must because we've seen pics where it looked right)

I guess, I have ordered over a dozen things with that account and all made it here fine, not sure how my old addy ended up on just that one order.

I'd go in and delete it. Sometimes ebaY chooses the wrong address and if you don't doublecheck everything during checkout (I rarely do either), they'll put your old addy up there.

Yeah, I deleted it.

I guess its my fault, but I will blame ebay!

F'n EBAY!!! :banghead

First TB madness, then DiD Gimli madness, now its cloak madness!

:lol

I'm just gonna use Frodo's cloak. F- him! He doesn't deserve one...when he got to Mt Doom he turned evil anyway. Failure!

For Merry and Pippin, none of the existing sculpts really work to be blown up or reduced. But I will probably undertake a project to get portraits done.

Howes would probably do it, if there's enough of ya.

Someone needs to start a list of those interested to see if you got enough guys.

Here's a comp to see what you got.

I think Frodo's wardrobe works for Merry -- bleach and dye the vest yellow, similar coat just needs to be dyed greenish.

Pippin needs jacket from somewhere else -- maybe DiD -- because the Sam sweater just won't work.

Ha. First things first, fellows.

I'm going to be making most of the clothes from scratch using the Sam/Frodo ones as a starting place for patterns. It's the only way they'll look right , IMO, and not cobbled together. After I get Gimli resculpted, I'm going to tackle the remaining 2 Hobbits.

EDIT: Do you think embossing, printing, or stitching the design into Merry's vest would look best? The real one is quilted but that won't really translate to 1:6 scale.

I was thinking that printing on the vest to simulate the quilting would be the best way to go. Same with Pippin's shirt. I do think that Frodo's coat is close enough to Merry's, if it can be dyed. Merry's shirt has a collar similar to Sam's and Frodo's is close enough to Pippin's.
