Sucks about the 6" but how do you like the other two?

At a glance they both look pretty good. I can't really add to what's already been said by those who have a head start on their custom Gimli figures. And I haven't taken either one out of the packaging yet and probably won't until I'm ready to get into this project full swing. But so far so good.

The good news is I received the TB "rotocast" and the DiD Gimli yesterday. The bad news is I also received what I thought was the TB "soft" Gimli, but it turned out to be a 6" figure instead.

OUCH! :lol Was that before I posted the pick of the boxed version in this thread or did you think you'd found one loose?

I've got the roto Gimli coming. I think I'm going to try and hydrospan the TB Famous cover Gimli head and enlarge it just a bit. The enlarging and shrinking formulas aren't designed for subtle adjustments, but I've been experimenting and think I might be able to do it.

I think it was before. The bottom line was that the figure wasn't very well described on Amazon, so I just took a chance and pulled the trigger. Figured it was nothing to loose at $18, but I guess I was wrong. Oh well, back to the seller it goes. :lol

Unless you're experimenting for other custom projects, you could always just pick up the "soft" version and save all the effort. You'll not only get a better headsculpt, sizewise, but a better helm too.

There's another option that's guaranteed for a little more. Let me know and I'll PM you the link.

Not sure if anyone posted pics of them all:
ToyBiz rotocast Gimli:

needed for gauntlets, shoulder armor and boots

Maybe you can help me out here, but how do we remove the boots, shoulder armor and gauntlets? They appear to be molded onto the figure.

Boots I just yanked off, but one broke in the process, so that wasn't great. The other bits I cut off with an x-acto and dremeled off the rest.

Freakin hell, I talked to the post douches today and they said it can take up to month for something to get forwarded

F'n USPS :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead

A freakin' amazing custom Gimli by Oscar Hertin.

Sword and shield are not film accurate but honestly, who the heck cares. This thing is a work of art.

He wrote the following:

"Basically is the figure of DID with some modifications.I shortened legs and arms..I repainted the hs and I sculpted the eyebrows...and i made some improvements on the clothes, chainmails ,etc...."

THIS is my goal for my custom Gimli, period.

Do you think he'll make me one?

Instead of beating your head over it, why not drop another $20 and pick up one while they're still at that price. You can always flip the other one if/when you get it. And for a potentially higher price as well.

Looks good, and it's an AWESOME dwarf, but as we'd already discussed in earlier pages, that could be any dwarf. The likeness isn't really Gimli.

ok, myDID gimli just arrived from florida. I just pulled his head off and looked at it, and it's made of a semi soft rubber. The DID helmet is nice and big, has aony given any thought to cutting the DID face out of the head, and useing the helm on the Toybix sculpt? It loks like it would work rather well. and I'm debating doing exactly that.

I was talking about the "soft" version. It's still too small, especially compared to the hobbit heads. My main concern is making Gimli fit in with the SSC figures, so I'm going to base everything off the sizes of the hobbits and humans we already have.

Yes, I cut the feet off. The main reason was to shorten the figure, though. I think you could probably jam the feet into the rotocast boots if you softened them in hot water, but they are rock hard normally so it's not like you're getting any benefit from having feet in the boots.
