Helmet wise...

The TB roto is too small, but it has the most accurate sculpt of the 3. The TB soft one is the nicest, I think, but the detail work is off and sloppy in spots. The DiD one looks pretty good cut out, but still not quite as good as the soft sculpt, imo.

What I ended up doing was cleaning up some o the sloppy sculpt work then cutting the more accurate front accent piece from the roto one and replaced that bit on the soft helm with it. So I ended up altering the helmet I thought I wouldn't touch anyways. :D Looks much better now and will be close enough to what I want when repainted. Pics soon.

So how is it you fit the "soft" head sculpt onto the DiD body? Do you just modify the existing neck/head post?

wellsir, looks like i missed you. however, on the plus side, i just finished the whole body surgery process, including pinning the ball to the top of the neck. I've got my hands cut up, and now all i need to do is put him in his fatsuit. Going to ignore the DID maille, and the other sets everyoe seems to be getting. I'm just going to make him some actual chainmaille. i can rol and cut the links, I was making a chain shirt for aragorn, but i changed my mind., but for gimli, For gimli I wil TOIL!

on a side note, i just finished swapping my gandalf to a true type body as well, so now none of my fellowship are on buck bodies.

I'm anxious to see how your real maille turns out. Post pics when you can please.

Got my roto Gimli today. I spent all weekend moving so I had no time and prolly will have no time for the coming week. :(

I have all my ingredients too. I am really glad I got the Roto-Gimli. The armor, boots, and gauntlet look really nice.

The real chainmaille? No, NOt at the moment. Years ago, I used to make and selll 1:! scale wearable chainmaille for Conventions, SCA, and LARP games. I've cut the rings, but I've not started weaving it yet. It's a little bit time consuming. it'll likel;y take me about 8 hours for each sleeve,, and problby 8-10 for the skirt. I won''t do an actual shirt for him, as it's not nessacary. It's a low priority thing. My plan today is to drill out his arms and the hands i cut off the Toy biz gauntlets and fit the ignite Writsts inoto them.

I got my cloak from Toy Anxiety, but somehow I managed to order Sam's normal cloak instead of the Elven one. I remember having to add it to my cart a couple of times, and apparently I clicked the wrong one the second time, so that's $11 down the drain. I already had one of these that I wasn't using.

In other news, they seem to have restocked the actual Elven cloaks if anyone still wants one. They do seem like they would be rather short, as someone pointed out though.

Is it the DiD Sam Elven Cloak that we're getting?

I've started sculpting the beard after these were taken. Looking good so far.

ok... new question. how do i mount the neck adapter from the toyz body onto the did one? i already cut it down, and drilled and superglued it to the did body, but when i was putting the head on, the neck peg snapped off after it got stuck in gimli's head. i re-glued it, but i can see it breaking off again if i remove the head for painting.
