Well I’m actually not oblivious to the cartoon version as I am well aware that it was one of RW defining roles so i’m sure WS has got nothing on him.

I saw this floatin’ around Instagram and thought it was pretty interesting. The New York Times review of the original Godzilla. Though it is the Raymond Burr vers.

I understood that reference. :lol

Fun movie! I thought the pacing was a bit uneven and a lot of it was outright silly (subs outrunning nuclear blasts, etc.) but it seemed that anytime I there was a lull something so insanely cool would happen that it'd put a huge old grin on my face all over again.

I have to say I enjoyed it and my kids did too. I absolutely loved all four of the main monsters and they really took me back to when I first saw them as a kid.

:rock :rock

Good to see you liked it.

:rock :rock

The audience, especially my kids (lol), absolutely jumped out of their seats when the underwater team lowered the blast shields and G swam by the giant window with the sound only coming from the left and tracking across the center as he swam by. If this film wasn't made for Atmos I don't know what is.

And kudos to the film for having the balls to

have the environmentalist mom be evil and the single white dad the good guy.

I jumped at that scene.. Kids behind me fell out of their seats..

Great moment.. Only time ever Godzilla scared me :lol

It was rather refreshing seeing that narrative play out the way it did I was thinking about my conservative friends in the forum who were going to appreciate it specifically you and JAWS while watching it lol

:lol Not gonna lie.. Shared with my friend that it was good that the film showed just how crazy those liberal environmentalist are ;) ;) :lol

jye to JAWS on EG opening night:

“JAWS where did you go man you missed Hulk’s World Breaker moment!”

JAWS to jye:

“Oh crap did I....fudgeeeeeee!!!!!!”

Jye giggles to himself in an evil-ish manner

:lol :lol

Stupid Endgame..

You know you’re right that’s my first scare from Godzilla ever holy crap wow i’m impressed with KOTM lol

I gave the film a lot of credit for that.. The whole scene was done well and a bit suspenseful.. So the jump was a great payoff.

KOTM is a top three Godzilla film for me for sure.

Will have to see it a few more times but it could be number 1..

Just have many nice memories of this film..

Jye did you see it a second time yet.. How was it?

Yep, looking forward to owning this one. I can see why you enjoyed this one, definitely no Professor Godzilla or anything this time around, lol.

And speaking of great moments I really loved that one shot of G rising back to his feet in Antarctica with the huge full moon behind him.

Friday night Dolby cinema.

Seriously guys, spoiler tags.....this film has not even been out a week.

Reading between the lines, the had a 40% day , historically at this point it should only be 10-15 % of opening.

This monster may have legs for summer.

Sent from the inside of a giant slug in outer space.....

Relax, it was discount Tuesday and Godzilla had the smallest percentage increase of the releases from the last couple weeks.

Same here, I think the IMAX definitely added to it, when I saw it with my fiancee the second time, I braced her because she hates scares and she barely flinched, but in IMAX the whole theater shook.

Is it better than Destroy All Monsters? Be honest now...

Other than a battle at the end with so many monsters together, I'm not really all the fond of the overall story and movie of Destroy All Monsters, don't like the aliens much, it just doesn't do much for me until the end, for me, I get more overall enjoyment out of this movie.

Agreed.

Yeah lets be real here we can love our cheesy old Godzilla movies like DAM and MZ but at the end of the day KOTM is now the ultimate Godzilla experience there is bar none.

YES the movie is flopping and the studio is going to lose money!

YES GvK will absolutely be affected by that!

YES it could’ve used more destruction throw downs and less family drama!

NONE of that matters this IS THE BEST Godzilla theatrical movie experience EVER!

Sorry 54, MZ, Biollante and Shin but move over for the new King!

But man does O’Shea Jackson suck lol

Jackson was a far smaller part overall than marketing suggested though.

And yeah, I walked away with much more excitement from this than Shin, Godzilla 2000 and ‘98, my other theatrical Godzilla experiences.

I think over time, the “this movie could use more” feeling will fade. I think the movie is so fresh and the action we got was so amazing, I don’t think any amount extra would feel like enough, another 30 minutes, an hour, any amount of that amazing of action is going to be craved. This film delivered what we’d all been hoping for in backing these 4 monsters with a budget like this. We want an all you can eat buffet and unfortunately we are limited to a pre-sized entree.

The ‘54, ‘84 and Shin Godzilla’s remain special to me for the unique, solo depiction of Godzilla which is quite different from the vs style. As far as vs Godzilla’s go, this one is amazing.

I’m on the hunt for a good ripped copy for repeat viewings, too much coming up on weekends now, son’s birthday this weekend, taking the kids to Monster Jam and Father’s Day next weekend.

Yeah this will be my go to Godzilla movie probably forevermore. Still haven't seen 84 and the Shin version from a couple years ago.

I still love 54 and along with 33 KK and Creature from the Black Lagoon make a point to watch it every 2-3 years.

As far as anti humanity unstoppable force of nature Godzilla I now feel comfortable saying that I would give it to Shin over 54.

I just watched both recently preparing for a KOTM and I have to say that Shin is a nasty nasty ******* lol

Shin is a disgusting vile force of unforgiving destruction.

Khev you should give Shin a spin yeah some of his atomic breath scenes have really poor cgi but his nastiness comes thru loud and clear lol

My man doesn’t even flinch when the military tries to stop him he’s on a mission to move forward and forward he goes lol

I see that Shin is on Vudu so I'll be watching it tonight. :rock

Which language version do you recommend?

Shin was mostly crap to me. If you like watching politicians fighting while a monster plods through the city, then its for you.

It would have been amazing if it came out about 15 years ago.....

But its pretty bad , not sure why it gets so much love.

Relax, it was discount Tuesday and Godzilla had the smallest percentage increase of the releases from the last couple weeks.

And no.

Being the snob purist that I am I always prefer the Japanese language with English sub and besides it’s super fun watching the Japs freaking out in their native tongue lol

English dubbed, the screen is hit with a lot of text identifying every politician and piece of equipment, if you add subtitles to that, you miss a lot trying to read the movie instead of watching, English dubbed allows you to take in more of what's going on.

Of the solo Godzilla movies, '54 has the best story, pacing and plot, I'd say then '84 and Shin's is probably the most "boring" of them all, but as jye said, Godzilla himself is a relentless force, everytime you think they've done him in, he comes back with even worse threats and even the end leaves you wondering what more will come of him. It's VERY unique though, unlike any Godzilla before it and likely one like it will never happen again.

Yeah that's what I normally assume but Godzilla 2000's English dub was so hilariously ridiculous ("those rockets will fly through Godzilla like s--- through a goose!" lol) that I figured I should ask.
