They're just emphasizing how almost pathetic he is right now. He has no money and no power and anyone and everyone will walk all over him. Killing is essentially the only tool he has for the moment.

Just saw the 3rd episode and it was definitely better than the previous. Though Penguin had better seek treatment for his chronic compulsive stabbing syndrome. With that body count, he could give Joker a run for his money. :lol

I really like this show, or, at least, I think I do. I guess I'm kind of "on the fence," if you will. Part of me thinks that they don't know what they want the show to be, and the other part thinks that they do, and that I need to adjust to the tone. I don't know. It's almost like there are two different components. When I see a show where cops are beating confessions out of criminals, and gangsters are at war, and the title of the episode is "The Balloon Man." My first thought would be "okay, this ought to be pretty cool. They're dealing with a killer who leaves balloons at the scene of his crimes." The thought that "a guy is tying people to balloons and watching them float off into the stratosphere" never crossed my mind. I criticize some of the people who criticize TDKR because they had a different film in their mind than what they got, and I think I need to look at myself, when it comes to this show.

I think it just takes some getting used to; having a "gritty" cop show with a sense of whimsy.

I'm with you Batfan. I think the show still needs to find its' footing and I'll give it a chance. That being said, even if the show ends up being disappointing or cancelled by FOX's OCD (Obsessive Cancelling Disorder), at least viewers had some fun with it. :lol

Also, (Can't believe I'm saying this) just cut off Bruce Wayne. He's incredibly unrealistic, boring and doesn't do anything beyond what's painfully obvious. :lol

I actually like the kid. I just think he could use some better material. As it stands, he's basically the contemplative, adult Bruce Wayne minus the Batman persona in a twelve year old's body. It's basically like that "yes, father, I shall become a bat" moment from the comics actually took place over the course of ten years, and Bruce never left the study.:lol

They should let him be a kid. Not a normal kid, but a troubled youth. Have him constantly getting into fights at school, running off into the city, etc. I still think the dumbest thing they ever did was basically say "no, Bruce isn't getting therapy because his dead father thought it'd be best to let his twelve year old son make all of the decisions regarding his welfare, in the event that they died." Would psychotherapy not be the perfect in for a young Hugo Strange?

Also good episode... like the main characters and Oswald is kicking *** ! Love this guy and the way he acts !!

BUT .. I don't like those one episode plots that ends.. its small vile style and I dont like it.. I like more like a throughout story line like Lost, Breaking Bad ...etc..

and what bothers me the most is that lesbian **** ...just stupid and unnecessary

Just watch. They said that every episode is going to have a nod to the possibility that that person could be the joker. $5 says it's gonna be oswald. It'll turn out his name was never Oswald or they'll just completely **** with the mythos and make Oswald the joker.

Wasn't that person the comedian on the first episode?

There not going to be that stupid but it would be funny and actually I’d be ok with it. The thing is I don’t want to know who the Joker is. I don’t want to know his history. I like that every movie / tv show seems to make up their own backstory so none of them can be correct. I hope there never is a definitive set in stone story for his creation... Just like Yoda…. Leave the mystery alive.

So far one possible Joker has been teased, that's the stand up comedian. So far there haven't been others.

I saw about 10 minutes of this show yesterday, and that was enough.

I was like that after seeing the first ep. You know they're re-writing this to where we will end up seeing all the top villians in their "early years".

I also thought the gore scenes was a little much, which they're trying to go for shock value.

Maybe they should have a Batman appearance at either the end or beginning in the Batcave retelling the story like he's in a chair with his thoughts or something like that?!

The gore scenes were too much? I've seen far worse than that on TV.
