I think the problem is that the show doesn't know what it is. Castle and NCIS are what they are and don't stray from it or try to add too much and it works. Gotham isn't anyone's story--it's everybody's, and that's my problem with it. Smallville was Clark's story. Gotham is Gordon's, Fish's, Bruce's, and Penguin's--and sometimes Cat's, Barbara's, Falcone's, and whoever else they can think of to cram a storyline in for.

I seriously hope we jump a good 5-10 years by next season. I don't think they can restrain themselves from using all of these villains. We'll have all of Batman's villains fully established before Bruce can drive a car :slap

I think the writers are reading all the comments about people hating the Fish character and they are taking it out on her on the show:clap

That was so bizarre.

I liked the Alfred arc. I'm amused by the Selina/Ivy weirdness and Barbara letting them hang out in her place. I'm curious how the Red Hood theme will play out later (or if the theme will ever see the light of day again).

Barbara is the worst part of the show, if I haven't said that already. Selina and Ivy are just about equally bad as well. THe three are all useless characters. Selina's saving grace was she supposedly saw who shot the Waynes, but they now seem to be ignoring this since she said she lied.

I like the majority of the eps, including the Red Hood Gang ep. I also liked the Joker ep, or Jerome. But I agree that there are just way too many characters to keep track of and then you lose sight of what it is.

I liked this past week's ep. a lot. I can see why people don't care for them introducing so many villains, but the nice thing is we just really 'taste' of them. I just really like what this show does. It's been really consistent, in terms of my meeting my expectations thus far. Keeps me wanting more.

I'm with you Chap. I am really digging this show and I am fine with all the cameos / nods to future Batman villains. I treat them more like Easter eggs for the hardcore comic readers because most casual viewers will not realize all the obscure character references like Ivy and Two-face, etc. They need to dump Barbara from the show or make her into a villain who terrorizes Gordon and Thompkins. Fish is a great character to hate, which is why they need to keep her. Maybe her and Barbara can team up. :lol

Yeah, Barbara is a jerk. :lol

As for Fish, I was shocked to see what she did with her eye!! Did not see that coming....pun intended. But I like Fish a lot too. I didn't much at first, but I do now. I also like what's going on with Cobblepot and Butch. Curious to see if that goes south or it gets stronger.

So the Dollmaker is played by Colm Feore....who also played an Oscorp employee in ASM2. Wha?!?!?

Anyone else see the conflict of interest here?!?!

:lol I worked a recently aired episode of SVU w/ Donal Logue and was like, we were on set in the precinct just last week for Gotham, we're jumping shows here! :lol Awesome dude! And of course there was that Tyrese episode of SVU with Chad Coleman months ago. Most NY-based shows have actors jumping back and forth from time to time as guest roles on different shows.

Tomorrow's gonna be our next episode. One of my veteran stunt buddies knocks Gordon's gun out of hand with a frying pan. :wink1:

Nice! I really liked this last episode. I think it's one of the risks when you're doing something so experimental. Some episodes are going to mesh really well, and others are going to seem kind of clunky. I'm hoping we get more like this last one, though. I wasn't too big on the first Joker ep or the Scarecrow two-parter.

Yea, people are complaining about how they hate her - but I'm pretty sure that's the point. I don't like her either, but I think they have something interesting planned.

Really liked this week's episode, and at least twice I was surprised by where they went with the storyline. I can't understand the complaints about too many characters or story lines - if you expected Castle or NCIS, that's not what this is. The show is called Gotham, not Gordon, or Batman, or Penguin. The variety of characters and stories allow for more surprises.

I also love the ties to the Burton universe. Obviously Selina is a Pfieffer look alike, but she has the attitude down as well. And Joker? Yea, that was heavy on the Nicholson, although there was a darker edge in there as well.

I like that they tie things together over the course of many shows too, like the Doll Maker coming back around as a major plot point a dozen episodes later. That will keep this show interesting over seasons, rather than some simple villain of the week motif.

You nailed it on the head, One of the things I disliked about Smallville was how they had a new villain of the week every episode.... I prefer how Gotham weaves their villains in and out of the main story arc instead of just one episode and there gone forever...
