Another strong episode tonight. :rock I really like the theme so far of this crime 'gang'. And I dare say....I'm liking Barbara!!

First episode I saw tonight of the new season. All I saw is an awful Jack Nicholson impression, dumb criminals who can't set a bus that's dripping with gas on fire, people hiding in plain sight in the middle of a massacre, and a man's face (and hair) coming out virtually unscathed after a brutal beating. I just can't.

You watch what you say!!!!!! :lol j/k
:lol:lol:lol

Sorry Chap. :hi5:

Just something doesn't feel right, but I think I'm just far too bias on this show.

I agree with what you posted at the end here. A lot of it really did seem over the top and dumb. But considering it is Gotham, a few of these made sense even still. But like Devil said:
I didn't see any Jack Nicholson at all. Not so much as a fiber.
I did however see far too much Ledger. Russian roulette, the bus, the flinging of the gun (which the gun I assumed was alluded to BTAS, comics, and Nicholson). What really pushed it was literally the shot by shot of Jerome on the camera to Ledger's Brian the Batman.

This season is better than the last

I want to disagree with this, but I agree. In partiality, I think it is because we had to deal with the whole Waynes and the murder investigation. Not to mention, that it is nice not seeing Penguin, but Riddler scenes just seem unnecessary.

Most of the time some actors have a good episode or so.

Pretty much.

If he's comparable to anyone, it would be Romero, but he smoked him too.

I don't know what any of this means. This kid didn't play it like Ledger.

You have him: showing his mouth only to the camera, you have him shouting at someone, you have him try his menacing voice as a message, and you lastly have him laughing like a maniac at the end of the video.

This is literally Ledger when he did his recording when he killed that one guy dressed as Batman.

That video scene alone had a lot to do with Ledger.

Some of the jokes though had a Nicholson vibe now that I think about it. Like, "Anyone have a light?".

Just stop.

This dude is just missing the makeup and he is so close to the best live action adaption of the comic Joker. Romero is still tops.

I don't deny the character, I feel he's the most interesting thing in the show (but isn't much to say considering the show doesn't really have high standards for me).

But to really say that entire scene is not even remotely similar to Ledger's is a bit ignorant.

The part with the "Because laughter is contagious" was ****ing amazing. I thought it was super well written, and it easily is a Joker move. Not Nicholson, not Romero, not Ledger, not Hamill, but a JOKER move. He had a few other good ones like dropping of the employees and he's telling Aaron to move a bit to the side; that's Joker.

But then you have that camera part (it's not a bad scene it just way too much a copy and paste), and it just feels he's trying too hard to channel Ledger in that.

Honestly I have no issue with it, I just prefer we get something different. Each previous Joker, and I'm sure with Leto too; we get a different style, I feel if he's written to be as himself and NOT alluded to the actor of a different interpretation, he will really kick some ****ing ***. I'm reserving judgement as it seems the next episode could be interesting. I simply hope he won't be trying too hard to be like any prior Joker.

Actually, I don't blame the actor, more so the directors and writers for all this.

Honestly, I'm sick of the whole "amateur video" thing. Arrow's done it, Flash has done it, now, Gotham's done it; it's getting tiresome, now. It was cool when Ledger did it, but it's become such a trope. I wouldn't mind seeing more stuff like the Mandarin's video from IM3.

I didn't watch the second 2/3 of last season, except some of the finale. I've been impressed with this season, so far.

I like the Joker guy. He occasionally reminds me of Romero. He occasionally reminds me of Ledger. He occasionally reminds me of Nicholson. And, he occasionally reminds me of nobody but the Joker. And, none of those varied 'reminders' seem out of place in his version. The ability to blend all of those Jokers into one performance is impressive. Might be the most cohesive live-action version.

I actually like what they've done with Barbara. It's interesting to have a plot twist like that in a prequel ... even if it did come from having nowhere interesting to go with the original character.

I do have last season recorded on my DVR. Any recommendations on a few I might want to watch before deleting the lot of them?

Personally, I'd say delete em now and don't watch em. :lol

No, but seriously, the Ogre storyline was good. So id say watch the last 3 episodes for sure of season 1. They are on Netflix too, if it's a matter of space

Not to mention Jerome was dressed like a cop like Ledger in TDK, not that Ledger was the first Joker to dress like a cop, but it's probably the most recent and the most memorable version to do it.
