They got the wong actor to play Hugo Strange. :monkey3

Comicbook.com reports that BD Wong (last seen in Jurassic World as Dr. Henry Wu) will portray Professor Hugo Strange on the show.

This take on the character is described as "a brilliant professor and psychiatrist tapped to head up Gotham City’s notorious Arkham Asylum. He’s hired to help the city’s criminally insane, but Strange has a nefarious streak as well." Apparently the good Doctor will be the one revealed to be conducting experiments on inmates with a view to creating supervillains for Indian Hill: the underground facility we saw Firefly (Michelle Veintimilla) taken to after her battle with the GCPD saw her engulfed in flames.

Actually, BD Wong might do a good job.

I just finished the latest episode and I have to say I'm really enjoying season 2 so far. Yes, it's not a perfect show but they've improved significantly over the last season.

Needs more Bullock though.

BD Wong is a great actor. Very cool choice for him to be Strange. The new season is great but not really like the psycho penguin. He's clearly lost it. I prefer the cold calculating penguin. Also, loving Nygma this season. Can't wait to see more of him.

They did it again, "No one is telling the truth, this is GOTHAM!" Seriously, they have to keep remind us that they're in Gotham and that it's a bad place. Horrible writing...:slap

If the writing wasn't mediocre, the show would be less popular to the masses. I wouldn't be surprised if studio execs actually force writers to add in hammy stuff like this.

I love the "hammyness" of the show... its a fun hour. And its funny that people complain about this being hammy yet everyone LOVES the 60's show which was hammy x 10,000

Nostalgia, the same reason I still like Batman 89. Still, not everyone loves the Burton film or the 60's show. Adam West batman gets a pass because it's a 50 year old series, same reason old Star Trek episodes get a pass from fans, but if you put this...

...on a modern movie or TV show, people won't like it because the expectations are much higher, and a show like Gotham is really a wasted opportunity, considering the quality of modern crime dramas on television. Instead of getting a show with the quality of storytelling of Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, True Detective or Boardwalk Empire, we got a "hammy," more violent 60's Batman show or Batman Forever. I still watch the show because I like the Penguin...

Honestly, I didn't start loving it until it went over-the-top bat**** crazy. In my own little perfect bubble of a world, Gotham would be a hard hitting drama following the fall of organized crime and the rise of vigilantism in the city, but Gotham was at its most mediocre when it was trying to balance the zaniness with the safety net of a police procedural.

I watch it for Bullock and Penguin. They're both never boring. Though I have to say I kinda wished Bullock didn't warmed up to Gordon so early. :(

It also has to do with preferences. I never got into the shows you mentioned. People rave about them but I never had interest in them and not my type of shows. I guess because they aren't on the prime channels I don't know. Guess I don't like what they are about. I enjoy Gotham. It is getting better.

I wonder if the reason behind the show's campiness is to sell more merch. Just off-hand, I notice that Gotham has statues and minimates, and the like, whereas something like Agents of SHIELD doesn't have anything like that.

Like, they're intentionally keeping Gotham more "fun" to keep it at a certain level to make merchandise more appealing. Whereas Marvel is taking a more serious approach, and you don't have merch for Agents or Daredevil

I love True Detective and Boardwalk Empire, but I don't want my comic book flicks with that tone. Love the tone Gotham has set. It has some grim violence but the camp sells it. It's a fun watch.
