Dagnabbit. Forgot about that. Edited now.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

I hope we at least get a few constructs as i'd really like the giant fist and Gatling gun.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

Right now with the early buzz being as solemn as it is, I would expect only Hal and have it be a minimalist at best.

Like you said elsewhere, bad reviews don't necessarily mean a movie won't make money or be popular among certain audiences. GL may be a pile of ____ yet still rake in the dough and sell collectibles. The AVP Predators are incredibly popular Hot Toys figures, and those movies sucked to high heaven.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

Who gives a ____ what critics think? They're generally wrong anyway. Movie's not released until Friday, then we see what the fans think. :dunno

:exactly: reviews may have some basis but in the end it rest in each individual whether they liked the film. Critics and fans alike hate Wolverine Origins but I love it.

I'll admit with all the negative reviews my expectations become lower after awesome films like Thor and XFC. Find out in a few days what I think. Good, bad or ugly still buying HT figure if it looks good.

As Kara mentioned, the figure has the potential to be successful regardless, like the AVPs. I already said I'm in for GL to have a kickass JLA in my collection.

:offtopic:
I don't get why everybody said XFC was ignoring the previous trilogy. There were far too many nods to it for that to be possible. :huh

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

Supposedly the creative team said that First Class ignores X3 and Wolvie: Origins, but is part of the same "universe" as X1 and X2. Makes some sense considering Singer's involvement, and makes the White Queen age issue less problematic.

Meh, we don't even know for a fact that Silverfox's sister was the White Queen anyway as there isn't an Emma Frost in the credits, though she is listed as just "Emma." Ironically the Doctor's name was Carol Frost so it gets even more confusing. :lol

Who gives a ____ what critics think?

Oh, lots of people. :rolleyes2

You see, good critics assess a film critically and subjectively, as opposed to the fawning fanboy hordes who can't admit their favorite toy commercial franchise is garbage. See: Star Wars prequels, Sucker Punch, etc.

And critics do affect word-of-mouth about a film, which is perhaps the single most contributing factor to whether or not a flick has legs.

I'm a Marvel man myself, so Capt. America is what I'm looking forward to. I hope the GL flick is good, but all the previews look like it's another CGI crapfest directed by a hack with ADD. The hints of goofball humor don't bode well, either.

Mikey Bay, anyone?

They do? Usually they go in with a predisposed, stuck-up, artfilm mentality and rate the film based on what they think it should be rather than what it actually is. How many times did Siskel and Ebert give a film a thumbs down and it turned out making in excess of $40,000,000-$100,000,000? Personally, I'd rather make up my own mind, then have some arts fartsy ****** do it for me. :huh

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

I hope negative reviews dont sway Hot Toys, i cant help but wonder f we'd have Sucker Punch figures in 3rd Qtr if the reviews praised the film.

Regardless, i'm gonna see X-Men first then Green Lantern, and i hardly ever go to the cinema, but i hope DC does a sequel 90% in space.

A film's box office is hardly an indication of its quality. Transformers 2 made over 400 million. Are you going to tell me that was a great movie worthy of that amount of money? On the flip side, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World got great reviews, yet tanked horribly at the box office. It must have been a terrible film, and all the critics were wrong, right?

Usually I'd agree with you both but with so much on HT's plate, I could see them making Hal and then walking no problem. The AvP line was in it's height when HT didn't have much going on.

Regardless, i'm gonna see X-Men first then Green Lantern, and i hardly ever go to the cinema, but i hope DC does a sequel 90% in space.

The original idea was to have it 90% in Space, even down to what was supposedly the shooting script, things obviously changed which leads me to believe they are going with the ideas that have Hal on Earth more than anything else and a short fly through Oa which is disappointing.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Offical License Announcment

i'm going to see it in about 4 hours. my expectations are rock bottom. it's free. AND it's free.

from where i come from, that's a good time at the movies!
