Now that I think about it, I enjoyed the movie so much that I had forgotten about the 3 teens sitting behind my wife and I playing their PSP game while also watching the movie, my wife just reminded me.

Where is the Punisher when you need him.

It amazes me that even as ticket prices soar people still go to the movies to NOT watch the movie. A couple in front of my wife and me spoke to each other non-stop throughout Thor. It wasn't even that annoying because they weren't loud but it's just mind boggling. :cuckoo:

Pirates 4 was moderately successful here, passing the $200 million mark--but it's been a huge hit internationally and is going to break the billion mark worldwide. Thats why there will be a sequel. Green Lantern will not break $200 million domestically, and I wonder how it will do/is doing overseas. (I expect Captain America to do well in the US, but I have a feeling the appeal will be limited in other countries.)

I think when all is said and done that this movie will do quite well.

Myself and 2 other friends saw it yesterday. They are both big fans of the character while I am indifferent. We all agreed that the movie just flat out sucked. It was just a big mess.

There was not enough character development. The whole movie felt very rushed like it couldn't wait to end. I didn't care about any of the characters. The story was just a mess with a lot of cheesy dialogue and scenes. A GL movie should be epic and in order to do it justice the movie should've been more than 2 hours. An hour and 45 minutes just isn't gonna give you the right amount of time to flesh out all the characters and epic story that the movie so desperately deserves.

Hector Hammond is one of the worst comic book movie villains I've ever seen. He served no purpose in the story except to be apart of some unnecessary and forced love triangle. We are given no backstory about him, Hal and Carol. Yet they all no each other. Were they all friends in the past? Did something happen to ruin that friendship or was it just a case of jealousy on Hector's part? Also, why would Parallax even bother trying to use Hector to kill Hal? If parallax is so powerful, why didn't he just do it himself? He wanted to destroy Earth anyway so just get on with it. Also, I really can't feel any emotion towards a villain when it's just a big smokey cloud with a face.

I never liked the choice of Reynolds as GL and after seeing the movie, I still don't like him. The guy plays the same character (himself) in every movie. Enough already. He's one note. I would've liked someone a bit more mature/older looking to be GL.

Blake lively was horrible. She's hot and that's it. She spoke with the same emotion or lack there of for every line.

I really would've liked to see an awesome GL movie. Like I said, I'm indifferent towards the character, I don't like or hate him, but a great movie definitely could've made a fan out of me.

Just want to add one more thing...the scene where Hal created a racetrack to bring the Helicopter to safety was totally ridiculous. Why didn't he create something much more simple like a net to catch it in and be done with it? It was overly long to the point where it seemed like the writers were just trying to fill time with an action spot so they concocted this ridiculous idea to save the helicopter. Easily my most hated scene.

It's really not all that amazing the popularity of a movie about Pirates.

Green Lantern has been a niche character popular with comic book fans for what, 70 years.

Pirates has been talked about for how long now, hundreds and hundreds of years.

My grandmother knows who Blackbeard the Pirate is, but she thinks GL is the color of our outside porch light :lol

We went yesterday, completely underwhelmed.. it had some bright spots, but not enough. What could have been a great story quickly fell apart. It's always easy to say what could have been after the fact, but the fact is it should have been great form the get go!!! I'd give it 2.5 out of 5 stars.. let's hope the sequel rocks (if we get one). The preview that was shown for the new Green Lantern cartoon looks amazing though!

I saw it and I liked it. Parts of it blew me away, parts of it were kind of meh. It in no way deserves the hate it's getting on Rotten Tomatoes though.

The only really terrible things were the chick who played Carol - she has to be the worst actress working today, and the editing - it was like they couldn't decide what scene they wanted to focus on at the moment so they just kept jumping back and forth.

I have a couple nits, but the biggest was the mid-credits scene. Don't get me wrong, it was really cool to see what they showed, but...

Why would Sinestro trade his green ring for a yellow immediately after Hal proves superiority of will over fear. It just didn't make any sense whatsoever.

Personally, I think they would have had a more cohesive story if they went with Kyle as GL rather than Hal, but that just might be my bias talking.

Your spoiler is a vaild point, i'm thinking just the need for power that he had, to me he almost seemed annoyed, frustrated and just all around disgusted with the elder guardians, I would even go as far as saying that he wanted the yellow ring created for his own selfish reasons and used Parallax as the excuse.

Or even if he did use the yellow ring to battle Parallax, would've he given it back at the end of the battle once Parallax was defeated, I don't think so.

He's real son of a _____ that Sinestro isn't he :lol

I have a secret that I haven't told anyone other than my wife :lol

My fear (I would make a good GL I guess :lol) is that Hollywood stops making big budget Superhero movies and they go back to the low budget crap fests they once were :horror :monkey2 :thud:

The time will come when comic films don't get the love they do today from the studio's, director's and actor's. They become fewer in number and the quality goes out the door. I dread that day....

thats when you lean over and tell them politely to please be quiet or there will be an ass wooping soon!

As long as it happens after the Avengers and JL movie, i'll be content......i'll just keep telling myself that anyways :lol

Before it dies off, we will still see an IM3, Thor 2 and Cap 2 if successfull plus a DD and FF4 reboot.

A Hulk 3, another X-Men movie and GL 2 I don't think so but one never knows, right.

As long as they are profitable they will continue.

I think with the success of IM and Batman the comic films are on an upswing. However, all good things must come to an end. I say we have 3 - 5 yrs before they start tapering off.

Then you get in trouble for threatening.

not always...it just common courtesy to not talk (so much) during a movie (that costs alot for ticket).I once got up (during Rocky 6,these kids/people were acting like idiots/shouting) and went to the theatre manager, told the Gal we have a problem. She walked in and it was complete silence for the rest of the movie! Made my movie experience so much better!

So far my comic book movies of the year are ranked as
1) X-Men First Class
2) Thor
3) Green Lantern

Hilarious that I thought it was gonna be completely opposite before I saw any of these flicks. :lol

Can't wait for Cap! :rock
