As for that mid-credit scene, I only wish that HT would've made figures earlier because that would've been a Comic-Con exclusive worth waiting for.
As much as I want to see that. I'm actually, surprisingly, more interested to see (don't know if this should be a spoiler for whats to come or not)
Star Sapphire in the potential sequel. Blake Lively in that kind of outfit.....can't......fathom.

It would mean she was wearing more clothes than those internet pictures.
:p

Were those pictures even confirmed? Oh well, greatness nonetheless.
Also, may I just point out that Blake is HAWT as a brunette!

..but back on topic, Hector was a fantastic villain.

General public leans toward real, I really hope they were.

Sarsgaard was great as Hector. Never expected him to
kill his dad, though.
I loved Paralax compared to his stupidass space Cricket counterpart.

Never expected it either, really liked that scene. Eager to see how the box office does this weekend. Now to play the waiting game.

Hector was CRAZY!!! I liked him as a side villain. It was nice to see the dynamic between him and Hal.

The crowd I was with during the movie was fine but before sucked big time. Annoying bunch of twits. :slap

The opening of the movie was pretty cool. Seeing how Abin Sur took care of Parallax and how everything came together looked cool. I loved the plane sequence and how he was able to out think those two new jets. The way that Reynolds and Lively worked not just at the start but during the entire course of the movie.

After he gets the ring and is transported Oa and you get a glimpse of how that world looks things pick up. Tomar-Re looked really cool on screen and was cool seeing him first among the folks you meet upon arriving. Now, his training with Kilowog was awesome! Really enjoyed seeing him try to figure out how to use his power and not have a choice not to. Then we get introduced really to Sinestro for the first time and knowing how he turns out this was one thing I was really interested in. He very much comes off as someone who thinks his ____ doesn't stink.

Him using his powers on earth with the race car track was pretty sweet. I don't know why but I got a big kick out of that part and seeing Hammond fall into being Parallax errand boy was cool. I do wish we could have gotten a bit more with Hammond but he was used well enough to help Hal get to where he needed.

I liked seeing Hal be humbled in a way like Thor and come back around to realizing he can do so much good. Then we get to see why in the end he is a hero that will do whats right for the right reasons. That its ok to be human and understand we're all afraid of something its how we overcome it that matters. Him fighting it out with Parallax at the end was freaking sweet! The sun taking him in was killer.

The credit scene was damn nice. When they create the fear ring I'm like yeah there we go. Then seeing Sinestro switch and start on the path to being the main baddy was cool.

Overall, I thought Reynolds was great as Hal and Lively did just fine with her role. I didn't know really anything about her before this other than she was attractive. Sinestro was excellent and can't wait to see battles between Hal and him. Graphically the everything looked great! There were a couple moments when I think the comedy didn't work but it did work for the most part. This movie doesn't take my top spot but its # 2 for sure.

I want to thank The Mike for helping me learn more about GL too by the way. I read a few of the comics as a kid but not enough to know much. Other than some of the main facts but between what he's posted and this movie I feel much better about knowing something about GL.

Same here, the people in back of me were annoying as hell. One person was making "EEK!" noises and another was panting so hard that, if I didn't know any better, I would've thought he was beating his meat to Blake Lively.

Thankfully all mine was before the movie. People clapping at every preview and just acting like a bunch of teenagers. :slap Oh there were a couple of moments during the movie somebody made a noise when she was on the screen but it was tame thank god during it. Someone did bring an 18 month old to the movie and thank god it was quite during the movie. It acted better than some folks did during the previews.

It seems like as soon as the credits start to roll, everyone starts jabbering. I wish theaters would put up signs that say "This film has an after-credit scene. Just because the movie ends, you don't have to start uo your mouth."

Just saw this. LOVED IT. I liked it more than thor... something about reynolds.. made the movie for me. He made all the comedic scenes work, and had the acting power to pull off the serious ones.. and SINESTRO WAS EPIC. Wish they showed more of him...

Alright, just got back and am posting this without reading previous posts simply to keep my thoughts in order.

The film was fantastic. To me much better than Thor and I loved Thor. Not to the caliber of X-Men: First Class but then again that is a different thing altogether really in terms classification of film. Was it a perfect film? No. It definitely didn't spurn the venom that the critics gave it and while the crowd I was with was obviously die-hards (although a large segment had no clue who GL was and it was fun to see other fanboys educating for once) a good number left wondering what the critics were thinking.

The opening sequence was awesome, a history lesson within moments similar to what we saw with The Incredible Hulk although much more animated. Seeing Krona/Parallax released was a quick clear scene just to set the stage.

Reynolds portrays a perfect Hal Jordan. He is much more toned down than I would have imagined and even as I read that he would be I was shocked to see it on-screen. He played the character almost nervous and unsure except when in the cockpit which is very much like the character and his evolution.

Lively played a good Carol, not a great one but definitely not one that needs to be replaced or that gets the wraith she has been. I'm used to seeing Carol as a ballbuster, almost Hal's Lois and she isn't that here but more his compass, keeping him moving forward. Lively is gorgeous and in many of the scenes just her beauty draws the eye, she played her role well.

Tom sucked. Something about the actor and his portrayal just didn't hit what I knew from the books.

Sinestro, Hector, Kilowog, Tomar Re, hell even the Guardians to me were spot on. Sinestro definitely stole the show with every scene he was in. I loved the subtle mentions of creating a ring and then that Sinestro would harness it up to the mid-credits scene of him wearing it. I'm not sure how people didn't get the transitions especially critics if they were paying any kind of attention.

The film suffers from what I call Iron Man syndrome. Where you get a build up of a villain or situation and then it ends quickly or at least much quicker than you would think it would naturally. It doesn't hurt the film here as much because Hal is constantly recalling things from earlier from the jets to the training on Oa to even his own overcoming of fear, so it is more natural but quick nevertheless. Even the track to save the Copter was perfectly shot back to his time with his nephew in his room.

You definitely have Hal who isn't as deep as many probably would have liked but it works, he grows and becomes humbled throughout, different than Thor where he is a hotshot who gains humanity but more of a man who stops running from his fear or his destiny and suddenly accepts it to make it work for him. It's very surface, you won't see Reynolds nominated for any awards for this but it is enough to make the film work.

I got a lot of parallels here from the feel of the first Spider-Man to even the feel of Star Wars. Not in content by any means but when Hal goes through space and hits the wormhole, it brought the same smiles as seeing Han run through hyperspace. The grouping of aliens brought back the same smiles as seeing the Cantina aliens.

The aliens were underused severely. Tomar-Re and Kilowog are likable, they are memorable and you wanted to see them help Hal, take part in it, even Sinestro you wanted to see him get his fingers dirty after watching him with Hal but it wasn't there. There is a lot that was in the "leaks" that didn't make the cut. Some gratefully like the greyed temples nod to Hal's downfall but some I missed like the original banters between Sinestro and Hal about the lantern and pulling it from the pocket that was leaked that never materialized. Or the many cameos that were cut or maybe never filmed.

Hector was done perfectly, not used fully but he garnered more laughs than anything else in my grouping. I'm not sure people grasped what was happening to him.

Overall I would give it an 8.5/10. It could have used some polishing here and there, the middle act definitely drags a bit and that was the point where I saw folks checking phones for time and it slows the pace almost too much. Definitely Campbell's style as I saw that same slow pacing in both Bond films before it ramps up to the third act but I absolutely loved it. If this is the only GL film we get, it's the only one I need.

Finally, I'm not sure what the critics wanted or saw. It's not the Dark Knight and thank god it isn't, Green Lantern wouldn't really work that way. It was really fun and light, laughs just enough and a lot of cool visuals that weren't just for the sake of being done. I thought everything worked great from a casual viewers standpoint, a lot of the girls who were there for Ryan and admitted to knowing nothing about GL, left saying how much they liked it. From a fan of GL's standpoint though I thought it was damn near magical. That last sequence of flight and him moving into the stars made the 7 year old in me cheer and maybe that is what the critics couldn't see, how this was to hit the kid in you as much as the adult cynic.

Same here. Probably 2/3 of our midnight showing LEFT as the credits started to roll. They were totally oblivious. I walked out of the theater 10 minutes later and saw the same crowds outside and I just laughed at them. They gave me a look like, "WTF??" :lol

Saw it. I really liked it. Sinestro was my favorite.

Hector hammond was actually pretty rad. Thats a tough role to do because its not exactly glamorous. I thought he pulled it off really well.

:rock :rock :rock Hector reminded me a little of Samuel Sterns (AKA the Leader) from the Hulk, but that's because I'm more familiar with the material there. I still liked him a lot though.
