I've had it stuck in my head for days now. My second favorite was "Ooh Child" when Star Lord is challenging Ronan. A lot of these songs really get me nostalgic from my childhood family vacations. The soundtrack and characters are probably one of the most appealing things about the film. I loved when the "Guardians of the Galaxy" title popped up with Star Lord as small as can be in the foreground. It was a nice way of showing the audience that this was going to be larger than life.

Mine was that for the first couple days too but ever since yesterday, it's been

Karen Gillan was terrible

Nebula was completely under utilized. Karen was great in the role, but had virtually no screen time. And her "big" fight with Gamora was completely underwhelming. Rocket basically stole this movie, as did the mix tape.

Exactly.
They had a fight between two awesome female cyber-assassins... WHY in the hell it was so short, messy and boring?! :monkey4

Tbh, I never noticed Drax being all like "oh I want listening, I was thinking of something else." line do to all the laughter during the whole plan conversation. That was amazing hearing it the second time around.

Saw it yesterday with my son and a few friends. Loved it. Favorite movie of the summer!

I was SO excited Friday night to see Guardians...and I left kindof underwhelmed. Meh, is what I described it to my wife and friends.

SPOILER review:

I really liked all the characters, and I think they did an excellent job of doing an introduction without it devolving into a boring origin story. The interactions between the characters and the dialog was spot on. But the story was just...dumb. Sorry, it was (IMHO). It's a story we've seen about a million times before...Reluctant hero is searching for item. Item turns out to be unexpected and bad guy wants it to execute master plan. Hero has to stop plan. Hero fails, bad guy gets item, but hero saves day at the end in big fight.

That's not saying the story couldn't have still been done, or that there's anything dramatically wrong with it, but Guardians didn't really add anything to the formula that made it any different. No double-cross. No person back from the dead (yes, Groot, but I'm thinking more like Phelps in Mission: Impossible). No bad guy sympathy. Every role very clearly defined.

I really like the characters, and I WANTED them to be in a good story. Alas, I didn't think they were :(.

Thecapn,
I think your review has merits. I remind myself that there really are only a few abstract story lines. The way you described it sounds like hundreds of movies lol

Glad somebody got me :) You're completely right, there's only a few real storylines to follow, it's HOW they follow it that's important!

Saw this yesterday with my Wife and 8 year-old Son and couldn't believe what a fun movie it was. To me it was sort of a mixture of Star Wars IV and Heavy Metal.:lol I can't remember seeing a movie where the entire audience was so into it (clapping at the end for example). I really had my doubts when I first heard about GOTG and thought this was going to be the jump the shark moment for super-hero movies, but man was I wrong.

As far as Thanos goes and the fact that he's my favorite super villain, I preferred his Avengers look. I thought he looked a little too human (and kind of fat-faced) in GOTG. Hopefully his look isn't set in stone and is sort of a work in progress - kind of like how it took a few tries to get the Hulk just right.
