I laughed too since it was intentionally hilarious.
And I cried twice during Groot's sacrifice, because it was intentionally heart-tearing.

Now if someone was laughing during that heart-tearing scene...

:dunno

How was that a hilarious moment?

Rocket thought his only friend, Groot was dead and he was crying. And of all the people there to comfort him, it was Drax, who was mean to Rocket in the beginning, but at that moment he could sympathize with Rocket because he had lost his family.
That's how I saw the scene, and there was nothing funny, imo :dunno

Yeah it wasn't funny at all, cute? Of course it was cute, but mostly heart touching and eye watering moment.

Funny is definitely a poor choice of adjective.

I didn't think anything in this movie was tear worthy aside from the opening.

I agree, but there are still serious moments that aren't meant to be funny, no matter how silly the actors look when they are shooting the film. We're not suposed to see that anyway, only what's on screen in theaters when the final product is finished.

I think it shows the strength of the movie that they can have some semi serious tones and mix it with a dance off. Mixing tones in extremes is what I think made ASM2 flounder for alot of people, so for this to do it and still have so many people loving it, I think it speaks well of how the movie was handled.

It's true the movie was executed extremely well. It's well balanced and the tones are all fitting for the characters and story. I would've welcomed a touch more seriousness and weight here and there but that's just me because I always like a bit more darkness and grit; just a personal preference but not saying that movie desperately needed it.

I just got back from watching it in 3D, in a more mellow/not packed theater and I enjoy this more after every watch. I could easily go for a 4th time.

Not that it could be compared, but I see how it could be said that this is the Star Wars of the MCU. The Thor movies gave us a look and an idea of what's going on out there, and this expanded it further to give us a deeper sense.

Not much to not like. Good action, enjoyable characters on the team and they way they interact is great, the comedy works (maybe even better than any Marvel movie thus far), great settings and landscapes. The overall story could've used a little tightening up here and there but all in all a cool frigin movie

My girl is breaking my chops to see it a 4th time tonight but I wanted to give it a break and check out A Dame to Kill For. I'm starting to think that she has a fk'ed up twisted crush on Groot, Rocket & Drax.

She probably fancies Starlord. Come his obligatory topless scene she'll stand up and say "okay, let's go"

There's someone here who watched it seven times I believe. Don't be too hard on your GF yet :lol

:lol

I actually want to see it a 4th time too but I wanted to stick something else in the mix to break it up first. It's the last 3 movies we watched :lol
