I was excited to see this after the response I saw on this forum. Man, you guys really get excited over anything. The movie was decent, but it dragged until the kiss in space. The best parts were when the team was interacting and when the music was playing but there was way too much mindless action where you knew it was going to work out and none of the main characters were going to go out. It was alright.
Haha what did you expect from this kind of movie, man? It was gonna be fun and of course you knew none of the main characters were gonna go out. I just think you had to know exactly what you were gonna walk into.
Well I think I kind of know where kia is coming from. Some folks are acting like this movie is the greatest comic movie ever made, or certainly near the top of that list, and is a perfectly executed attempt at blending action/comedy/drama. And frankly, it's not that to me, though it has its moments that hint at what it could be. It does what it does very well, but at the same time, it doesn't quite reach the level of achievement that it felt capable of IMO. And while you might know deep down characters aren't going to die, the film's tone doesn't have to reinforce that, by being a bit too light and carefree. And perhaps GOTG doesn't focus quite enough on the gravity of what's going on to achieve that, particularly when you have dancing Quill and WB cartoon character Ronan interacting in the final confrontation (even though I liked that scene quite a bit for what it was). I don't feel it needed to be heavier personally (Gunn didn't seem to make that a goal), but at the same time, that kind of thing holds it back from moving from "really good" to potentially "great," because it doesn't feel as genuine and rich as it could have been because of it.
So what you're saying is that The Bridge on the River Kwai, Dr. Zhivago, Gone with the Wind, The Ten Commendments, Apocalypse Now, The Godfather and the Exorcist would've been held back with a dance off ending?

looks like red pants and a red tank top...
Yeah, Alec Guiness, Brando, and Heston didn't have nearly enough dance-offs in their respective careers.
