They're officially calling him "Shazam" now. Which I think is extremely corny for the character's name and brings back memories of the crappy Shaq genie movie but it works given his history and all.

:lol :lol :lol

If they were making movies for comic fans GOTG could be made to stand alone and then interact later. However for the movie audience that has never read a comic book they need to be hand held and walked through, showing a connection from the start or else they will say "How did that happen?" when the inevitable team up occurs.
Like it or not, these films have to get the audience up to speed and unfortunately that means dumbing it down to express what should be obvious. Marvel is making a big universe and everything is a vehicle to expand it further.

SHIELD worked to connect the Avengers because it was an EARTH organisation from their own comics that served that ourpose in the comics.

It doesn't work to have SHIELD with any relation to the GOTG as it's an EARTH organisation and wasn't part of their comics in any way.

Then introduce SWORD instead :dunno

What is Sword?

Do you see my dilema? I cannot relate, therefore do not care. :lol

Yup and if its anything at all onscreen like SHIELD, viewers are going to wonder if they're not getting a parody of the SHIELD/Marvel experience.

Then introduce SWORD instead :dunno

Or Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S

Both have more realtion to Aliens than Shield.

I recall Nova coming back from saving the universe only to have the clueless head of SHILED ask him to sign up on the superhero registartion act :cuckoo: :lol

I'm not expecting it to be a 100% adaption of the comics. But Guardians and being away from Earth go together like bread & butter

What is Sword?

It's an organisation for monitoring aliens on Earth. An abbreviation like S.H.I.E.L.D...

...One that you do relate to because it was carefully crafter for you to do so.:wink1:

Why does that even matter? The movies will still be making money. Even the most clueless audience member will figure things out eventually. Or when the opening Marvel comic credits role.................................... :dunno

Thanos provides the connection :wink1:
That's actually a great point. You don't need SHIELD or The Avengers, just throw that Thanos guy in there since both teams have fought him in the comics. People will catch on.
