Halloween (October 19th, 2018)

I hate RZ’s movies and I also love that RZ is making movies. He’s the only guy making RZ movies and he has an audience. I love a guy who marches to his own drum, even if I hate the beat.

That sums up my thoughts perfectly. I hate his movies but I rather admire his enthusiasm. Every time I see him in an interview I think to myself "This is the guy who made The Devil's Rejects?"

H18 was flat, predictable and her PTSD storyline was silly.

Hopefully Suspiria comes thru for me not that I think the original is any good because unlike H78 it isn’t lol

Agreed, I agree with you dude! I wasn't much of a fan of RZ one however, we knew what we were expecting from it. This new one I thought I was going to get a new take on the series, instead we got more of the same and basically Halloween 2,4,5,6,h20 wrapped up in this movie, but in a more boring unemotionally and un atmospheric movie. The ending was emotionless, Kind of like we just going to end this movie because we can not think of anything. Their is so much wrong with this movie as far as not being entertaining I have so much to say about it but why even bother.

Anyways, RZ two was not great but I liked it because it brought his own take on it. I would rather have a movie fail trying with fans than succeed copying and being boring, like Disney star wars. I loved the take of the horse and the brutality and we felt emotion when annie got murdered and showed that family scene. Not one scene in this new movie had emotion, I felt nothing when the characters were murdered. Not a damn thing. I couldn't wait for this horrific movie to end.

Yes RZ H1 when copying H78 scene for scene it wasn’t good at all but the other 50% worked.

It made money so they gave RZ free reign with H2 especially after his fallout with Carpenter it is said that Malek Assad wanted to give Carpenter the middle finger at that time hence why Carpenter only dealing with Blum now.

Anyways RZ H2 was its own thing and I liked it great performances and he freaking stabs future oscar winner Octavia Spencer in the back in a brutal kill I mean what’s not to love lol

When he gets out of that van holy smokes he made Jason Voorhees look like a wimp lol

It’s not perfect but at least its his vision.

H18 said it was ignoring all the sequels yet it wasted valuable screen time on those 2 silly cops I mean why pay homage to those horrible H5 cops wtf!

And yes the kills meant nothing.

I think they took the idea of having Michael not kill because he’s after someone and just kill for the sake of killing too far where they forgot to invest the audience. Smaller body count with more buildup to them would have been better.

Also, I was thinking about it and some of the best stuff from H1 and H2 was following from Michael’s perspective, we didn’t really get any of that here. And if you really want to go back to “The Shape”, you need more “he’s there then gone” shots like ‘78. The shot of him watching from the sheets and then gone with no clue where or how, classic.

If H78 were to ooze anymore atmosphere it would become a planet.

The girls simply walking on the sidewalk oozes atmosphere.

I watched a review of H78 from an early 30’s person and they said the acting and dialogue from the girls in H78 was cringe worthy bad.

What a freaking idiot lol

Ok sure Linda babbling about what she always forgets if viewed at face value can be a head scratcher but it’s their dialogue that sold them as every day real girls what Debra Hill came up with was perfection.

But yes MF you are 100% correct it needed more creativity for the shape he is a fun character to be creative with but they lacked the artistic skills to create new iconic scenes with him.

I tell you MF I am hurting real bad over this lol

To be fair the acting was never a strong point of the original. Aside from Pleasence and JLC who does fine for her first role (I know she didn't like her performance after seeing it) it's mostly just passable as it was their first time role for some. The film still has some major flaws but is still a classic.

Jye whatever you do don't watch Decker Shado's review of the original. Your vessels will burst.
