Lets not forget that H20 erased movies also... Why do these films keep erasing earlier sequels? Because non of them are that good. Part 2 gets a pass from me because it takes place on the same night and has all the same characters.. There is nothing scary or original about it. Its a continuation. Which for me was good enough. But its nowhere near the original.
Glad I gave you a chuckle
All I can say my friend is
1. We are discussing the 11th film in a franchise. 10 if you don't count part 3. I am not looking for American History X type performances. Having said that Jamie Lee was very good and very solid. Other then the Dr. so was the rest of the cast IMO. Nothing great but as good as and better then most the other films.
2. You might want to go and watch the other films again. If you are concerned about imaginative kills then you may want to look elsewhere in another franchise. Me personally I want some suspense and I got a bit of it in this film. I thought the only other Halloween sequel that offered true suspense was part 5 when Jamie was in the Laundry shoot. Other then that the Halloween sequels are pretty average in the kills and suspense department. I still enjoy them as a series. Mostly because they take place on Halloween night.
To your point about no good showdown.. Laurie and Michael never got a good stand off in Part 2 (god she was a wasted character in that one) and H20 has some moments but it really does take too long to get there. This film did it just fine and it took more then just Laurie to beat Michael.. Which was a good thing IMO.
As for the new film. I personally liked the bathroom scene as I thought it was brutal.. Yeah she could of screamed but that did not effect me in the least. I still thought the film brought some suspense because the scene was well executed. Also I thought as a whole these characters felt for the most part real and likable. I really liked the babysitter girl and the boy she was watching, her boyfriend turned out to be OK, Laurie was good, I thought her daughter was very realistic in her reactions to her. Only characters I did not care for where the Dr. and the fat friend who was hitting on Laurie's granddaughter.
Cant disagree with you anymore then this comment. I have yet to talk to anyone who did not think the "Gotcha" part was not great. IMO it was a great moment to show how evil and ******* Michael was... He comes out from hiding when he thinks he has a victim on his hands.. Sure Michael is pure evil but he is still just ****. Loved it. It went from a cliché scene of daughter crying she cant shoot the killer that has been done so many times (Hell even Laurie keeps throwing down the knife in the original) to shooting him like the little bad *** she was brought up to be.
Great stuff.
Again I think you should go revisit part 4,5,6, Resurrection and part 2 remake if you want to see some bad endings.
We are just going to have to disagree.. I liked Michael in this film and thought he was as close to being like the original Michael then any of the other films. Again much of that has too do with the fact that he came across as just evil. My above example is a good way to show how he was more human other then a robot (like 2,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 who did not worry if he was shot, stabbed, or if a glass door was in the way, or if he was on fire, or whatever in all the sequels..
Having said all this.. While I like Michael he is not a horror hero to me like say Jason is... I like the characters too much in the original and this new one to root for him.. and other then part 2 the other films are not well made enough for me to care about the character of Michael who is, in those films, Michael in name and poorly done mask only.
Sorry you did not like the film... At least you have 10 others.
