When people use the terms, especially politicians, various talking heads and their esteemed guests they should immediately be given a 10 question quiz on what the term actually is.
It's just funny to me that the people most loudly and violently opposed to certain things have no _____*ing clue what the hell it even is.
Communism, according to Karl Marx
"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"
Here's my biased interpretation of that statement. Regardless of how hard you are willing to work or how successful you become, your gains and wealth should be distributed to others that are in more need that you are. Is that about right?
Hence, my statement of "un-American." America wasn't founded by a bunch of lazy degenerates asking for a handout and living off the goverments dime, or more specifically the working classes dime. They were hard working people that fled their own socialists and communists countries because the governments of those countries thought that they should be the ones to determine how wealth was distributed. These immigrants came to America looking for, and finding, a better life that they were willing to work for with their own blood, sweat, and tears. And most importantly, their own hard work. The American Dream. You can become as successful as you want to become, if you are willing to work for it, when you have limited government involvement trying to limit and regulate and tax the hell out of that success.
Socialism/communism is great in theory, but it doesn't have anything to do with America, except we've proven that Capitalism is a better system, and it's been proven that human nature will not let socialism or communism be successful because, ultimately, humans will not redistribute wealth impartially. And if they do try to redistribute wealth and success from the people generating the wealth, it breeds laziness and squelches the American spirit of self reliance, independence, and hard work/job well done. Just look at the failing and abused well fare system in the United States if you need any indication that socialism/communism doesn't work in America, or anywhere else, on a long term basis.
