Communism, according to Karl Marx

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"

Here's my biased interpretation of that statement. Regardless of how hard you are willing to work or how successful you become, your gains and wealth should be distributed to others that are in more need that you are. Is that about right?

Hence, my statement of "un-American." America wasn't founded by a bunch of lazy degenerates asking for a handout and living off the goverments dime, or more specifically the working classes dime. They were hard working people that fled their own socialists and communists countries because the governments of those countries thought that they should be the ones to determine how wealth was distributed. These immigrants came to America looking for, and finding, a better life that they were willing to work for with their own blood, sweat, and tears. And most importantly, their own hard work. The American Dream. You can become as successful as you want to become, if you are willing to work for it, when you have limited government involvement trying to limit and regulate and tax the hell out of that success.

:slap

Socialism/communism is great in theory, but it doesn't have anything to do with America, except we've proven that Capitalism is a better system, and it's been proven that human nature will not let socialism or communism be successful because, ultimately, humans will not redistribute wealth impartially. And if they do try to redistribute wealth and success from the people generating the wealth, it breeds laziness and squelches the American spirit of self reliance, independence, and hard work/job well done. Just look at the failing and abused well fare system in the United States if you need any indication that socialism/communism doesn't work in America, or anywhere else, on a long term basis.

I think we just witnessed that Capitalism doesn't work that good either... all the working-class people paid with their taxes to big greedy corporations in order to keep them a-float... how's that "self reliance, independence, and hard work/job well done" :dunno

So you'd like to define "socialism", "communism" and "un-American" for us, Kuzeh?

Sure, here you go:
Socialism
Communism
Un-American

They are? So long as we're making sweeping generalizations, I'll say no; in this part of the world, all Middle Easterners and Asians are not looked at as born terrorists.

Particularly a foreign policy of appeasement. We should never let them steal our oil.
:cuckoo:

Nice to see my smilies are being appreciated. :D
:yess:

:panic:

"Socialism", "Communism" and "Un-american" are terms that I've seen used and re-sued so irresponsibly and carelessly these days, it makes me confirm that a lot of people have really no clue what they mean...

EDIT:
BTW, LOL @ the "timing device"...

Jack Bauer goes :gah:

it looks like macgruber's handy-work.

I heard it was cuz of South Park....but I loled...so who knows.

Yes thats what im hearing. I found this quote from an older episode pretty funny.

Let's all look at why Muslims are upset. First of all, in the Muslim religion, you're not allowed to have what? Sex. Good. There's no sex until marriage in the Muslim world. Now, this would be fine except that in the Muslim religion you also can't... Anybody? Jack off. Okay, jacking it is strictly forbidden in the Muslim religion. And what do we know about the places Muslims live? They live in? Good, sand. Now put yourself in the shoes of a Muslim. It's Friday night, but you can't have sex, and you can't jack off. There's sand in your eyes and probably in the crack of your ass, and then some cartoon comes along from a country where people are getting laid, and mocks your prophet. Well, you know what? I'd be pretty pissed off too!

Kinda ironic really considering what the cartoon wars episode is all about :lol

Maybe you should let someone Google 'capitalism' for you. Then you might know what words mean before you use them.

That was almost as pretentious as it was evasive. I clearly asked you to give your definition of the words you claimed that most people can't.

Can you not define them either?

It was Chris Morris's Four Lions.

Joking aside though I'm glad this didn't escalate into something serious. I was staying a the Crowne Plaza in times square until last Friday and if it was done right it would be very devestating as its always a very busy area ( even when i looked outside the window at 5AM it was still manic).

The owner of the van said he sold the van to a complete stranger for cash and gave the plates to a junk yard. Hopefully they keep their eyes on this guy.

Federal authorities have identified a person of interest in Saturday night's Times Square bomb attempt -- a naturalized American citizen who was in Pakistan for several months and returned to the United States recently, investigative sources told Fox News.

The latest developments seem to support investigators' suspicions that there was a foreign connection behind the failed car bomb attempt in New York City, senior Obama administration officials told Fox News, shedding light on the growing body of evidence.

Sources say that evidence includes international phone calls made by the person of interest, who has not been identified publicly. The Associated Press identified the person as a man of Pakistani descent, citing unnamed law enforcement sources.

Police also have interviewed the registered owner of the bomb-laden sports-utility vehicle. They say he is not a suspect, but he recently sold the dark-colored 1993 Nissan Pathfinder on Craigslist to another individual, whom the Associated Press reports was the Pakistani-American.

You still have to transfer the title. And how did he leave with the van if the guy kept the plates? Something sure isn't right with all this.

I believe you can sell it as unregistered, and then the new owner would have to reregister it. At least that's what happens in Australia. In Australia the re-registration would also trigger a roadworthy. This would also explain why he kept the plates and disposed of them, rather than going with the vehicle - it ensures the new owner has to register the vehicle.

Well if it was under the table he didn't have to transfer ____. I could sell my car to someone without actually transferring or notifying anyone. If they don't get pulled over it doesn't matter.
