Love the series but I was severely disappointed with the final episode of season 1 :monkey4

I have class until 9:00 every Monday night and it takes me an hour to get home. :monkey2 Feel sorry for me. :p

....i feel you, that is why I watch every episode on the internet. But, if I remember, you have a dial-up right?

I loved the Season finale because it focused on character over spectacle which is far too rare on TV these days. Geeks wanted a Superman II-like smackdown between Peter and Sylar in Kirby Plaza and instead got 3 punches and tear-jerker family stuff. Beautiful.

Dang, do I whine about it that much?:rotflYep, dial up and no Tivo. I'm stuck in the turn of the century. God bless the VCR, the single greatest invention of the 20th century.

My only criticism of the finale would be that Peter didn't really seem to be about to explode. In the episode where the other radioactive guy blew up Claire's house, he really seemed to be on the verge of something major with lots of glowing, etc. before they stopped him. I expected that when Peter was about to go nuclear that it was going to be very climactic looking, surpassing the previous near-catastrophe. I don't think that they did enough to convey that he was completely out of control and on the verge of destroying half the city.

I'm guessing that was simply a creative decision to make it easier to have the dialogue between Peter, Claire and Nathan which was the crux of the episode (and, in fact, the entire season).

I agree with you, Tom. There was this big build-up, but then it didn't seem like there was any real danger. If he was shown actually going nuclear, like Ted was about to, it would've been a little different.

I can't wait for next week!

They had the foreknowledge that he would blow up and destroy the city. So even if he's glowing just a little - they know he won't get it under control like in previous times.

And I have to say that some of the huh? moments disappeared for me after watching it again on DVD. They set things up extremely well and I'm hoping that a lot of what we saw between the older adults will come into play in Generations.

Very true, but it would have been a little more exciting to see him lighting-up a little more, that's all.

But if it would have taken away from how personal that scene was between him, Nathan and Claire it would not have been worth it.

I guess we'll never know. Thankfully, I was very satisfied with Season 1, particularly the finale.

Don't get me wrong, I was very satisfied with the finale also. I'm just nitpicking.

I watched the final five episodes tonight to prime up for next Monday and the final episode was much better than I originally gave it credit for. I remember being disappointed with it when it first aired.

The only problem I still have is the fact that no one seems to notice or care that Sylar just disappears with his blood trail going into an open manhole sewer cover. You would think that one of the heroes would notice that the "big bad" isn't dead or that his body is missing. One line from someone saying "Where is Sylar?" then showing the blood trail would have been better.

I just thought it was pointless how they tried to make you think that peter wasnt going to be the one to explode....like they were trying to be witty with the storyline but IMO they failed miserably at it.

Also, why the hell would Hiro stab Sylar just once, and not finish the job by cutting off his head or something. That was rather lame as well.

I don't remember exactly, but didn't Sylar blast Hiro up into the air after he was stabbed?

Either way, I think that Hiro was conflicted enough about killing that even the stabbing was a big step for him. I think that a beheading wouldn't quite fit the character at that point. Future Hiro maybe, but I think you need to work yourself up to a beheading.

yes because Hiro didnt finish the job. he just left Sylar lying on the floor after stabbing him just once.

After training with his dad, Hiro had a new sense of self and determination. So I dont really buy the whole fitting the character thing. Oh well, all I was saying is, the series did a VERY good job leading up to the finale, but in my opinion the finale didnt have much of a payoff and it felt flat.

As Tom said he was blasted away and it wouldn't have fit the character right now.

My problem with the Hiro/Sylar 'battle' was that Hiro teleports in like a block away and starts running toward Sylar and eventually stabs him. It was just came across rather silly. If Hiro had teleported in a lot closer the whole scene would have worked better.

I was sorely disappointed with the finale. The rest of the season had it's ups and downs in episodes (mostly to the good though) but the finale just felt really weak to me. The battle sequence was just choregraphed horribly IMO.

Wasn't he only training with his dad for an hour or two? I remember thinking it was odd that such a brief period of training had supposedly prepared him for the confrontation. I don't doubt that he had the skills to kill Sylar--I just think that he was still a little timid and good natured and wasn't enough of a killer yet. I actually like the fact that he was conflicted about killing. It made his character more endearing and interesting for me.

In the end, it was cool to just see all of the characters together, and the resolution of the plot--particularly the Nathan/Peter storyline--was satisfying for me.

Are you sure he didn't stop time while training with his father?
