Got this figure two days ago, and love it although I was suckered into buying it by my friend who reserved one for me even though I told him not to, couldn't resist, but anyways, I rewatched the movie again and began to notice something, the joker wears the same penguin tail jacket, with vest, shirt pants, and shoes with the hat but the only change is the tie, apcot or bow-tie, is there any chances anyone will make custom made ties to match the looks seen in the movie, or will they try to sort this out with the Jack Napier Figure?

The thing that sucks about this figure is the way the white sleeve elastic shirt says to go over the hand peg joint, so accidentally tried to pull it off, and broke it clean off, as I felt sadness, I was extremely relieved to use the spare piece, but now I will try to purchase an extra on just in case it happens again so who knows...

I got mine the other day and when I went to change hands I pulled the wrist pegs through the white (fake skin) sleeve, I first thought I broke the peg, but I was relieved to find out I didn't. Man it was such a b***h to get it back through the tiny hole, but I knew it would be worse to pull all his clothes off to put it back.

They're going to tell you that every Joker figure they have in the warehouse has the exact same problem. Every. Last. One.

Yup, thats basically what they said.

Thank you for your patience while I have investigated your inquiry.

Please know that each of these figure and costume are handmade and there will be minor imperfections on every piece. To better assist you, I requested our shipping team pull a couple of stock pieces to compare to the photos of your current item. Please know all three items featured similar costumes. As such, we will not be able to provide you with a replacement part that will be an improvement.

If you are not satisfied with your item, please let me know so I may assist you with a refund.

As always, please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

____ you too Sideshow.

And they won't pay shipping to return it, since they don't see it as a defect.

So I gotta eat the shipping to get my refund.

So, yeah, ____ you too Sidehshow.

The detail of the Hot Toys head is objectively more detailed. The texture on the HT skin is very realistic - the custom head is almost porcelain smooth by comparison.

That said, subjectively I believe the custom has a closer likeness.

Still deciding which I prefer, but without the hat I am leaning towards the custom. The accurate hair line and non-hat-hair I think pushes it ahead just a bit for me.

With the hat makes the decision a lot harder:

If the hat was better, I think the Hot Toys head might win for me. However, as it is I will most likely display this with the custom head and no hat most of the time.

Wow Mags! That is a very decent sculpt of the Joker indeed. Is is suitable as a replacement for the 'Jack' Joker? Well, you're certainly correct about subjectivity :lol !

If this was around the time of the movie, I'd have torn your hand off to get one of them for myself. Simple as.

But now? Now that we actually have the 'Jack' head sculpt in our hands with which to compare? It's not that it's bad, it is very good actually. But to me it looks far too smooth and generic a Joker to be a true and suitable substitute for this figure's sculpt.

I shall be keeping my 'Jack' head on.

And once again, Karnis....you new desk-top is legitimate scary!!

Got my Joker. He's gorgeous, but a button is missing from the tuxedo coat. Contacted SSC. Sigh. Other than that, man, what an amazing figure!

The hair on the custom is better. I like the look of it more.

Other than that, Hot Toys wins.

That's some bull____ right there.

Could someone tell me what known quality issues there are with this figure as I will be getting mine soon?

I agree with all you said. Can you imagine if that custom had HT paint and texture? That would be something.

Seeing them both in hand, the custom has a much more precise paint-job. The reason the HT head looks more detailed is only because of the skin texture.

Yep. It's mostly about the hair.

Yes it's too smooth. I said that. It's objectively true. What my subjective opinion is about is likeness. I believe the custom looks more like Jack. When he's several feet away on my shelf (when texture is much less of an issue) the custom creates more of a "miniature Jack" feel.

imo

Thanks for the comparison Mags :duff

I think the texture and extra work around the neck give HT the edge for me. The HT looks a bit more sinister and has a somewhat sickly/old Joker look which feels more like Nicholson to me. I could almost see Adam's Joker being if Jack had played the role in '69 instead of '89.

The one on the right looks like Christian Slater not Jack.

Weird and disheartening. SS is usually so good about returns. What did you have, the glue stain and a thread pull? Seems like they could at least replace the orange shirt which is the problem.

I hope that doesn't mean there are a lot with that issue.

WEAK ankles ,hand's kinda diffucult to change and people dont like his hat...:nana:but i think hat looks good enough...weak stitching on coat maybe...upside pers and hs is great ....I LOVE THIS JOKER.......

Well that's a bunch of crap right there! A few things leapt out at me straight away from this reply...

  1. They refer to pulling a "couple" of stock pieces", which is two, then they refer to "all three items". So did they compare it with two or three pieces, either way, that's a mighty small selection of comparative exemplars.
  2. They refer to "...all three items featured similar costumes" Similar costumes to what? Each other, the rest of the stock, yours? If they mean comparing yours to the (was it two or) three they pulled, that is hardly a quantitative figure and is hardly likely to realistically represent the thousands of units of this piece that they must have.
  3. Perhaps the more unusual stance to adopt...If you have clearly shown with good demonstrative photographic evidence that the item is indeed defective, and they say that "...all three items featured similar costumes." and by association - and by their own logic - the whole rest of their stock of this figure, doesn't that mean that they are knowingly supplying defective items?

Feeling for you KD.

LOL...I was going to say that!!! Yeah the one on the right has a COMPLETELY different facial expression, like he's in the middle of saying something, HT Joker is actually smiling so comparing is hard here, but with HT texturing, and lifeliike wrinkles, I feel like HT's headsculpt is much much better.

The custom job is still nice, but it looks like something that would have been on a statue that came out around the time the 89 flick hit. It is enough to give people the feeling that , hey thats the joker from the movie, but I don't see alot of Jack in it...

Yeah, Adam took some years off by smoothing out the wrinkles. I don't remember Jack looking "sickly" though.

:lol That's a new one.

They certainly have similar hairlines. :D

I think the best one I've heard (from NAM) was Brent Spiner:

Still looks more like Nicholson in makeup than anyone else to me though.

^^^ That's what I took it to mean :duh

I've got well over a hundred Sideshow products and a few dozen HT products, and in all those I have never asked for a straight up refund. I'm not the kind of OCD collector who over inspects a figure or has unrealistic exceptions of perfection, I know there are defects and nothing is ever perfect, so for Sideshow to simply right me off and tell me that there was essentially nothing wrong with the shirt that needed replacement is a little infuriating. It only cost me $12 to send it back, but still, that's $12 I shouldn't be paying.

Oh well, you win some you lose some. This time I lose and Sideshow wins.

____ty thing is, that's gonna get back to Sideshow and go right back out to another collector.

In the 10 years I have collected from Sideshow I have never been unhappy with their customers service. I guess there's a first time for everything.

So, long story short. ____ you Sideshow.

Ugh...words :monkey4
