All of your pictures are fantastic, but these two are my favourites. The monochrome seems to pull more detail out of the sculpt. The profile and the diffused shot are just beautiful photography indeed.

Really, thank you for sharing them.

:lol

I don't see why folks were getting all worked up and saying that the DX 08 Joker was a "selling failure" a few weeks/months ago when it was still in stock at Sideshow (despite being sold out elsewhere). Like it still being in stock meant that it was a disaster as far as sales go. What do some of you guys do, check and see what figures are still in stock? Even if ya got one?

I mean, it hasn't even been a year yet since the damn thing shipped out to everyone (which is next month I believe) and it was like they were already calling it like a bunch of speculators. :lol I just thought that was strange. Especially when it takes a while for figures to sell out now a days, like Reeve Superman, Jack Sparrow, etc. Not every figure sells out super quick like Keaton Batman, Bale Batman or some of those Iron Man figures.

But yeah, glad that's over. That's pretty impressive that such an expensive figure (at $265 or whatever, this was one of the first figures I really started to feel the price gouging) dried up AND could be had for a pretty great deal on the secondary market as well. I wonder how many of them they made, especially after getting the Nicholson licensing.

Wonder if we'll ever see that "Mob/Civilian" version that was teased a while back.

I got mine from a fellow board member. Otherwise I was going to go to sideshow. I think there were probably a lot of people who did that and that may have contributed to it. There are always a few of these on sale in the marketplace

Thanks man.

<Spoilered for space by me>

It cannot be avoided that he actually did take longer to sell out. To deny this is to deny the knowledge of your own eyes...not to mention the words of your own post.

However, whilst I personally (at the time I believe you are referring to) might have said that I was surprised that there was still a fair amount of stock to be had, I did not at any time say or even remotely imply that it was a 'selling failure'

Not me. I knew this bad boy would sell out without a shadow of a doubt. Just as I knew that the BATMAN companion piece would too. I mean, it's an action figure of Jack Nicholson for goodness' sake...how many more of them do you think we are ever going to get? I suppose that I'd assumed that most people would automatically buy the pair as a set, as I did, but if you read through the threads, that is not entirely the case.

Also, I sort of imagined that this would run dry at about the same time as the BATMAN, but clearly it did not.

Those two observations do not, in any way, mean that I thought it was this "selling failure" you mentioned. I have read back through the thread and I have noticed mild surprise, alert surprise even and the only incredulity I noticed was based on how amazing this piece is. I don't seem to find one post that says that this was a bomb, or a failure, or that it's terrible, or that it was not selling well.

In fact, I think you have found a problem where none actually exists because the only person that has named it a selling failure as such, has been you.

Now as to you second point, will we ever see a mob/Joker? That all depends on how HT see the sales of this figure. Did it meet their predictions/projections? They will look at his slower sales and draw their own conclusions.

Don't worry DGT, that post wasn't directed entirely towards you (though, you did show signs of caring about it's stock status so that part of my post was directed at ya). You weren't the only one who mentioned it, lots of people did and yes, "release failure" was actually implied. Check the other threads, not just this one (it was mentioned in the DX 11, NECA '89, and DX 09 as well I believe).

No worries man.

Still, I guess I just don't really get why anyone would be concerned (which we discussed a few pages back). People got the figure, who cares? Some of you really sit and check Sideshow's stock for a figure you got? What? Then there's also, the "slower sales" thing. They're pretty much dried up, it happened in less than a year. What constitutes as "fast sales"? A month, two months? Not every figure sells quick like Batman and Iron Man. I'd say Reeve Superman was a pretty big deal but it didn't exactly sell out quick (from what I understand). Took over a year and yet, everyone seemed to have it. So I guess I'm just not sure why it matters. Joker could still be in stock right now, who cares? Personally, I'm actually surprised. $265 for it was pretty tough to swallow. I think Hot Toys definitely over compensated with Nicholson's license fee in mind. The fact that so many people got it and it sold out from places in under a year is pretty impressive, especially for what little you get for as much as it costs.

I mean, do we even know the numbers of this guy? They might have pumped out even more than their DX 09 Batman figures.

No worries my friend...:duff As for the other threads you mention, I will bow to your superior knowledge as I do not frequent the DX11 and NECA 89 threads.

I don't know. I assume that HT produced these in stupidly high numbers. As you say, people buy what they want, what they like and what they can afford. That's that.

I can assure you too, that I don't obsessively scour the SSC/HT pages of the figures I have bought to see if they are sell-outs, but I must and will admit an interest if one that I did buy does indeed do so, who wouldn't? Though it's more with a passing 'Hey that's cool' sort of vibe than anything like a 'Like, hey, like yeah man!!! That like doubles the like value like right there man!' Or indeed why people did not buy it as quickly. People buy what they want and that's just great. Everyone has their own customised collection and everyone is slightly different to the other.
