There was a Kenner figure I believe that had his likeness. But the ToyBiz stuff didn't. They had a comic-looking head.

That's what I thought. I wasn't sure though. So in some terms this is slightly unprecedented to get an actor of this stature & longevity to have an item produced who previously had no truly accurate representation of a character he's played.

I don't mean to make sound so grand. I'm just pretty impressed I'll get to own a Jack Nicholson figure; who's one of my favorite actors. Now if only HT could make a Randle McMurphy. If that happened I wouldn't need to buy any other figure again.......until the next one came out.

Really? Wow, Jack got so spoiled in that movie I guess. :lol

Really.

Anytime a Batman 89 DVD or blu-ray is sold...Jack gets paid.

Anytime it plays on TNT...Jack gets paid.

Jack Nicholson got the role of The Joker but demanded top-billing and a lucrative deal that gave him royalties on all merchandise.

That's NOT JUST merch with his likeness on it. That's ANY merch specifically related to Batman '89. When you buy your Keaton Batman or the 1989 Batmobile...Jack gets paid.

Jack Nicholson received a percentage of the gross on the film, and due to its massive box-office took home around $60 million. As of 2003 it is still the single-movie record for actor's salary.

The current single movie champ is Depp for Pirates 2.

(....Jack probably get's paid for that too. j/k ;))

Throwing in the microphone and the purple/silver throne from the float would have made Joker's $265 price much more tolerable.

Oh yeah. Nicholson made out like a bandit on the movie. He signed for a percentage of all related merchandising. And if you remember all the merchandising leading up to and through the release of the movie - $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

This set was a no-brainer. Ordered it the second it became available for pre-order.

Dude... yes, hell I would have even paid a bit more if they added them. :lol

I've read through this whole thread, and most of the previous one's and there is something I feel hasn't been discussed much, if it has been in a different thread then please forgive me

What I take issue with on this figure is the apparent lack of direction HT seems to have with their entire DX line. The only thing that seems safe to assume is that they will come with PERS, other then that they seem to be all over the place.

If the rumors are true, that HT will be releasing more Jack Jokers in the future then it appears to me that they are obviously attempting to milk as much profit as they can while preying on the so called "completionists". Why could they not include two HS's and outfits with this release, as they have done with other DX's? They could still release a few more Jack Jokers for milking. I think if this release came with a complete alternate look people would be less upset about the high price.

So what I would like to see from HT is a clear statement about what makes a DX figure delux, aside from PERS, and have them stick to it. I understand there are exceptions, with some characters not really having alternate looks.

DX means it has PERS/a unique stand/ backdrop and the boxes are generally to a much higher standard.

I understand that. What I'm saying is beyond those given things HT has been inconsistant with what is included in a DX piece.

Additionally what my main point is that while I understand the complaints about the price on this figure, what aggrivates me more is that there is only 1 HS and a lack of alternative costume. While I can't say those things are the standard of a DX, it certainly seems to be a trend.

Nam is so easy to blame for so many people in this place. He's always reason everything is wrong with everything. I don't agree with everything his says, but more often than not it's along the right track enough for a relatively intelligent person to at least give him the courtesy to ponder the thought.

If you want to hold a debate use facts & logic rather than pulling crap outtchur ass.

......or just call him names. That's always entertaining.

While I agree with this, his method makes it difficult to agree. Abrasives just makes people want to argue even if you have a good point.

Can we take the psychoanalysis of Nam's writing style somewhere else please? Fascinating as it is. :sleep

I would, but I'd be afraid the likeness would be off (or too accurate?). I've already got Alexis Arquette...er I mean Alice on order. I don't need another.

Be funny if it wasn't serious. Actually had an airsofter bash me and my whole team. He uses the money toward college so I couldn't turn him down. They're quite impressive actually. :lol

If it was a 3 out of 3, the price wouldn't be such a huge debate, but as it is this particular DX has 2 out of 3 without the unique base or backdrop.

The base is recylced from DX01/02 :lecture

Could it be a possibility that they decided to reuse the bases, and forgoe any elaborate set piece items in order to cut cost? Maybe due to the expense of the license they were afraid if they included too many extras it would push the price past that line in the sand collecters won't cross.

Of course I have no idea how much any of this stuff actually costs to produce.
