Man Hot Toys really missed the boat on the Tron license. At least I have the following:

1. HT Kevin Flynn
2. Spinmaster Ultimate 1:6 CLU
3. Spinmaster Ultimate 1:6 Sam Flynn
4. UK Release 12 inch Sam Flynn Pull Back Lightcycle
5. SS Rinzler Maquete on Pre-order

Soon to be ordered:

Custom Tron/ Kevin Flynn from fellow member Spenser

My own self made "custom" general Program figure using a Dragon 1:6 and HT's Kevin Flynn black outfit.

And last but not least.........HT Sam Flynn Lightcycle/ figure on preorder from HT.

COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get with it HT!

I've had this fully paid for since February, so any delay really sucks.

If I had pre-paid for Sam I'd be a bit pissed too. I only have a $30 deposit with Alter Ego Comics so it doesn't hurt so bad.

I'm praying HT decides to make a few more characters. A Rinzler/Tron combo figure would pretty much make me the happiest man alive.

I emailed Hot Toys about the this item, and as it turns out according to Hot Toys the release date may have been pushed back again. Rather than 1st quarter 2012, its now 2nd quarter 2012. Read below:

"Hello,

Please be advised to check with your retail for the updated release schedule

"

This was my reply:

"Thank you for the reply. All the retailers are either showing 4th quarter 2011 or 1st quarter 2012. When you contact the retailers they claim to be getting information from Hot Toys directly. Will Hot Toys please send out a communication informing buyers as to why the release date of this item is continually pushed back? Not only would it be appreciated by those of us who have purchased this piece, but it’s also the bare minimum that should be occurring from a business standpoint and consumer satisfaction to those of us who continually purchase your product."

I'm surprised you even got the first response. I'm a pretty patient man when it comes to collecting, but it would be nice to know the reasons for the many delays.

O well, just means I can pick up some other figures I had opted not to purchase in anticipation of Sam's release. More Sideshow GI Joes here I come!

It's interesting that so many Tron products have gotten delayed. I was sort of interested in the T1 Headphones from Monster, and those STILL have not come out. They cited production issues. I'm wondering if the sleek finish and lighting is harder to accomplish than most anticipated.

I myself am trying to figure out Hot toys release schedule considering that they have pushed back the Predator Noland figure till May its leaving February wide open I was hoping this figure would hit then considering Hot toys Japan has this listed as a March release and Side show has the last flex payment in Jan. March would be difficult considering Batman and Joker 89 are due that month.

But with what you said its now going to be moved to Q2. Those months are just as packed with the 2 Sucker Punch figures,Predator Noland in May, Avatar and Iron Man Mark 2 in April and may be the Iron man Gantry in March/April.

Not to mention the fact the we don't know how far along in production they are. The delay could be due to a design issue or issues with production.

I have a hunch we will expect further delays from these products as Hot Toys will try to delay these releases in favor or pushing out the summer related products i.e Batman Dark Knight Rises, Avengers , and the new Spiderman.

I am anticipating at least 1 more push back making this release a September 2012 product. Just my gut feeling.

I agree the lighting elements are far more difficult that anyone anticipated, which is why Hot Toys should release Tron figures using the same reflective material that is on my UD Replicas Sam Flynn jacket. It looks cool, and just the faintest light really lights those strips up. :lecture

I think you are right its either they push something pack from the Q2 schedule or they move it to some time in Q3 as there maybe an open slot.

We still don't have any release date yet for the Black Spidy,Bat Moblie or Luke Bespin.

All of the above plus the all the new licences they picked up this year X men first Class, Green Lantern, Avengers, Amazing Spider Man, Batman Dark knight, Metal Gear.

dont forget the hall of armors from iron man:lecture

Yeah and Last night Hot Toys Face book Page had 2 new figures I think they were the Monkey Brothers, one of there own lines limited to 800 figures, all these releases and we still don't have Red Skull and Loki to compliment Captain America or Thor.

And I am not the kind to whine about rereleases, but I would like Hot Toys to commit to at least the two main figures, Hero and Villian, in a line as opposed to going of and doing a side figure. I do see it from a production point of view for Example Odin and Thor have similar vests and Loki's is different so that makes sense but I feel that the line is incomplete with out the main antagonist.

Looks like we are finally getting Loki and the Red Skull. I guess its good they don't give us everything we want in a timely manner because who would be able to afford this hobby if they did.
HT has been known to take their sweet time when they want to. People started to give up on seeing an Avatar, Superman or Iron Monger figure before they went up for preorder. Maybe that means another figure or two for the Tron line is still in the works, just not on our time table.

I don't know if people have written off the light cycle as being a worthwhile release. I'm hoping it surprises people as something high quality. I've had this sucker completely paid for for almost six months. It would be nice to know what the hold up is.

There's a difference though, Avatar, Superman, and Iron Monger were all officially announced and based off successful properties. Tron didn't do all that well and the line was officially put on hold. There's little chance they will do any more figures in this line. It looks like there will probably be another movie, so that might give a chance for real figures.

Tron was officially put on hold? I never heard that.

And what are they basing the "Tron didn't all that well" on? Kevin Flynn? Do they really think he or an expensive piece like this Sam/light cycle are indicative of demand for characters like Clu, Quorra or Rinzler? That's the part I don't really get.

Didn't do well at what? The box office? The Kevin Flynn figure?

It made a mint at the box office, and I doubt HT thought they could judge the success of the line based on the Kevin Flynn figure...I mean, that was never going to be the big seller compared to the lightcycle.

I guess its hard to say with any of this stuff. The Avatar licence was announced at the end of 2009 and only a single figure was announced a year and a half later. The film was super successful but the merchandise wasn't. The Mattel toys clogged clearance aisles for a long time. Its looking like the movie will be close to two and a half years old before the first figure is released.

The Superman figure was announced in August of 2010 and people have just recently received theirs. I don't think anyone saw a picture for a good six months after it was announced.

As far as the Iron Monger goes, the movie it appeared will be four years old by the time the figure comes out and for at least two of those years Hot Toys made comments that they were reluctant to do such a project. We got prototype pics almost a year ago and it will probably not be released for another five or six months from now.

With those kind of time spans its hard for me to say with any surety that we can put a fork in the line. Hot Toys announced they were working on Tron items in July 2010 and we've gotten one figure and the light cycle hopefully in the next four months. That's twice the items in a year's less time than it took to get a Jake Sully. Maybe we will get one release a year. Or maybe I have thought way too hard about this and I need to get to bed.:thud:
