Well, that officially starts off my SDCC exclusive list with a big FAIL!

Ok...now I say FU HT:mad:

SSC is officially blameless.:peace

:yess::clap:hi5: Hope they can hear you.
Definitely now the price ain't gonna drop anytime soon on Ebay now fippers know there's only that limited pieces out there:gah:

:yess::clap:hi5: Hope they can hear you.

Who...HTs or SSCs?

That's all I was holding SSCs at fault for...not communicating with their fans about what the numbers were. Now that they have gotten off the corporate script, they are no longer on my ____ list.

As for HTs, ____ em...in regards to the guardian. I can only hope that the limited number that SSC got was because HT couldn't supply more before the con and the Asian cons will get more.

Didn't hear the chat but did SS Mike say if the ES was definitely 500 worldwide? Or did he just state what SSC got?

Guess that means there will be that many less to try and get on Sunday at the con...and the line WILL get out of hand and be a shove fest :lecture

Well, the person that I had a deal with for one officially backed out last night despite leading me on for the last week. It is kind of sad because we had agreed on a price and I just questioned his $35 shipping charge considering that we both live in Southern California...then he backed out. :slap I am really hoping he will reconsider.

Who was it that flaked on you? You should disclose so we know not to do business with.

I am not saying a name just yet because I am hoping that they change their mind and follow through, I don't want to burn bridges early, and because I am getting clarification from a mod before I leave neutral feedback.

The biggest thing that pisses me off is that he originally contacted me with a low amount +s/h/pp fees and I offered them MORE just to try and be nice, they led me on for a week repeatedly saying that the deal was good. He even mentioned meeting at Frank & Sons. Then he tosses me a total quote that seemed high. I question the high shipping and see if there is anyway we can still meet to do the pick up, and he replies that he is keeping it until after SDCC and wishes me luck finding a different one? Hell, I even replied that I would have paid the "higher" price if that is what he wanted and I haven't gotten a reply.

That was your first clue to this unfortunate outcome :gah:

Isn't that scalper-land :huh

I have no problem with people scalping/flipping, so I like Frank & Son's (heck, I took my kid there a few weeks ago to get a Gundam model). He got the item fair and square.

What I have a problem with is a flipper contacting me to make a deal, making it clear that the deal is still good, giving me their paypal address to pay, and then backing out. I just don't understand why a few bucks are worth people breaking their word.

I get the breaking his word part. But if you are good with scalping, then you should be ok with this guy reneging on the deal. Seems to me, at least in my experience with that lot, that that is par for the course. Particularly in instances when the price goes from double retail to triple retail in the course of mere days!!!!!:horror:horror:horror

As the price kept climbing, your deal went further and further in jeopardy...and from your nervous post, you knew it was.

I feel for you bro and I hope the guy, whoever he is, renegotiates the deal...if its about money. If he just wants to keep it, then I hope your WL converts with the rest of ours.

I disagree. Just because someone flips something doesn't mean they should be able to back out of an agreement like that. Flipping isn't dishonest. I'll agree that it's greedy, but when you make an agreement and give your word, you should stick to it. Backing out of an agreement makes you a liar (with a few exceptions of course, like damaged property, deaths, etc.).

I almost did the same thing with a TMNT recently. Put it up for sale at a nominal increase above retail, propositioned with a slightly lower offer, accepted that offer, then somone else offered me full amount not even 10 minutes later. I came very close to backing out of the deal that I made, but in the end my conscience wouldn't let me. I felt horrible when the original buyer PM'd me, "I thought we had a deal." So in the end I did the right thing and sold it for the original amount I had accepted to the original buyer.

Guess your person didn't have this change of heart.

Something similar happened to me last year. A guy on the forum offered to pick up the MOTU art book and Wonder Twins w/ Gleek at a slightly elevated price from SDCC, but said he was unable to obtain the items and returned my money. I then checked his sales thread and the two items that we had made a deal for were there at much higher prices than he had agreed to with me. He's a respected dealer here and I didn't go out of my way to slander him, but I don't buy or sell with him now.

Totally agreed. I agreed to sell a grail to a member for a price in hell couldn't find anywhere else 'cuz i had an extra one. But i had to ask him to back out due to the high shipping cost to that country. He's young and have a girlfriend, and i told him i rather see him spend that kinda money on something else.

so i shouldnt charge ween double or work out some kind of other deal....:wink1:....???

:1-1:

That is what pisses me off the most. I have sold tons of stuff on these boards and over at statueforum and always stay to my word. I had promised a Donatello EX to someone at statueforums for exactly my cost; they were going to meet me at my work and pick it up. When the cost for it shot up, a board member here contacted me and offered me $75 more. I was really tempted to back out but I still sold to the original guy. I did the same thing with a Bowen Archangel, white Elektra, etc. I am selling a Wolverine EX PF to another member now at cost~ same song, different tune.

The thing is, I offered him OVER the price he contacted me with; and this ain't no stupid-lowball offer. I just can't understand how people can make a solid agreement and then back out on it and think that is acceptable. Especially when he even gave me his paypal address to pay. :dunno

I WANT to KEEP my DAMN GORT Kib :tap, I WILL NEVER SELL, u should of taken my first offer :impatient: NOW u will have to pay!!!!!!! :devil

Prepare the ceremony *trumpets!!!!!!!!!!* :moon
