Sorry but Hot Toys and Predators are just retarded. I never understood people paying $600 for the Ancient and Elder Preds that have all of 5 seconds screen time let alone this thing. r....

Ok, well I am a Predator fan, and I can't understand people paying $600 for a figure. I would not pay that much for any figure from any line. Lay off the guy.

No one is attacking him. His statement also leaves a lot open: Why are HT and Predators retarded? If it's a character that's onscreen for say 110 mins of the the 120 mins would he then pay $600?

Well mine arrived yesterday which i had to buy from ebay.Cost me 300.00GBP which is around $450 because i missed out on sideshow .Then customs stung me for another 100GBP before they would allow it to be delivered! But i dont regret anything,i love the movies and i love this figure!

This comment is way off. If you are going to hate on anyone, hate on Hot Toys, they release their items in one shot productions, meaning once they are released that is it no more. Clearly the demand is out stripping the supply which is driving up prices. I got into this hobby way after the original AVP releases, and boy would I want to have purchased those Preds for MSRP, but they were out of production already.

As it should be. HT makes an amount you either buy or wait. Sometimes waiting works out other times not. If you're not in the hobby there really isn't anything a company can do about that.

i don't see how i'm "hating on" anybody by calling a spade a spade. if they really cared about my opinion of their behavior, or thought it was "way off", then they wouldn't do it. clearly, they don't care. so, no harm done.:dunno

Wow,,,you just gotta love the UK and its customs:slap,,,Glad i live in the states now,(nicer weather too):wave

Isnt that the idea of them being "collectibles"? They make so many and then stop. I thought that was the whole point. I totally agree with prefused comments about the scalpers and wasters that bought this just to sell and screw the fans out of them. I personally think its pretty harsh to buy these up with the intention of then selling them onto the fans who couldnt get one at three times the price. Especially when the only reason they couldnt get one is because said scalpers bought them up first. I think its pretty scummy. And it seems even worse that it was even done by some members on here, who you'd think would look out for each other. Shame.
Anyway, just my two cents, everyone has their opinion. This is just mine.

I think you mean "limited edition", but yes that is true. Hot Toys business model is the far extreme in that they only have one release. So if you didn't preorder you have to hope that vendor/distributors ordered excess inventory to cover you or you have to get one on ebay. My whole point is that this could be fixed by Hot Toys having another release of their products.

Case in point, Mr. Guardian Pred. when it first hit ebay after all the hooplah with the instance preorder sell out the going price spiked as high as what $750-$800. This was a reaction to a perceived limited supply and high demand. When everyone else's waitlist began converting and the limited supply perception was brought down, prices on ebay have fallen. Sure they are still higher than release price but not as high as the initial supply shock.

Collectibles will always be subject to small price increases, but when you have speculators (i.e. the flippers) enterring the market this is when you see huge price jumps (look at the recent housing bubble), as there are more consumers and it also creates a liquid market with people trying to make a buck. If Hot Toys would do more releases this would do a better job at controling supply and this would probably drive out the speculators.

i'm not saying this because a managed to get a guardian predator through sideshow but the whole masshysteria about this exclusive predator and the hunt to get one is just what makes this hobby interesting and challenging

True! If it wasnt limited, and everyone got one no one would cry about "scalpers" and scalpers wouldnt be making money on it so they wouldnt be flipping them.

People that are crying "scalpers" were the people that didnt put the time in to get one. I got in front of the computer at 9:30 CA to try to get one and I failed (didnt want to miss the 10am start)! But my waitlist coverted and so did my friends.

Im extatic if this starts going for $600. From the begining I thought it was ugly but I wanted in regardless cause everyone else wants it :slap

Nah, if its something I really want I just find it stressful when I know its limited. Like when we were told the T-1000 as Sarah Connor was going to be a con exclusive, being as I am primarily a Terminator fan, I was disgusted by that news and very tense up until the point where it started popping up for order on every site.

As for the Guardian, I would gladly see everyone here who wants one be able to get one at a normal price. I care not about low edition sizes. My first concern is 'do I want that figure?'. If yes then it being hard to get just pi$$es me off.

Well just wait a month and the price might hit 300 and pick it up then. It will end up being 500 again in 6 months plus.

Is that at me? I did get the figure, I was a waitlist conversion. But that doesn't change how I feel about the whole limited/exclusivity thing.

See you and I have different personalities. I have always has a business mentality. I buy stuff I love and know if I ever need (I get hurt and cant work gotta pay bids somehow) to sell if it will have enough demand that I almost break even or I make a little bit on it. 95% of everything I have bought , if I sell I will make something on it if I had to. Batman DX02 is the only thing I had to have that I would lose on but I just had to have that one and didnt want to wait around to stumble on a cheap one. But I will go for $100 dinner twice a week. What a contradiction

limited exclusivity is crap. All it does is promote scalping and price gouging.True I like the idea of a limited run but dammit I want this ____in pred!
