Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Looking at the way Bane is selling in HK I truly do hope Bane will get more attention and we may even get a re-release or even a DX in the future.

In China, they'd just shown V for Vendetta in theatres where it was banned under previous government. Seeing that Bane carries a lot of political messages, that might just be the reason why this figure is selling so well. But I might be reading too much into this :cuckoo:

I'm gonna buy that figure and customized the hell out of it :)

Why?? Your custom figure trumps over this by miles!

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

I'm fairly new to this hobby, I only own 3 figs at the mo and my first Joker is hopefully not very far away!

I basically only have a few days maybe a week left to get this Bane at a decent price before the sellers sell off their batch right? and the crazy eBay prices kick in... wanted to recreate the banner poster of Batman and Bane standing off with their armies with my DX12 but the thought of a DX Bane with more stuff is on my mind...

It can be hard to gauge, but don't delay the purchase if you can help it.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

He will get a DX, it's the ONLY reason I didnt order this. Bane is my favorite villain. And he will be the first figure to actually be tailor made for PERS.

Is this true?

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

the only possible dx feature i would want is a pers head.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

A DX bane could offer a whole lot more then just PERS, there's the Barbour motor cycle jacket with DCD vest, a red motor cycle helmet, a shotgun, the bomb itself maybe? Also the microphone in the stadium scene, a detonator ( let the games begin! ), black t-shirt ( prologue), detachable tubes on his mask( final fight ). That's a lot of stuff just off the top of my head that HT could add, aside from PERS at least. That's enough stuff for a DX release imo. And lets not forget an entirely reworked body, vest, head sculpt, pants, boots. This figure looks pretty darn cool, but there's a lot left to be desired for imo.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

There wont be a DX Bane, why would there be?

Look at the facts, this Bane basically portrays 3 looks of the character in the film leaving only 1 look left untouched (the Stock Exchange) so if another Bane comes out it'll probably just be another standard MMS but even that is a long shot.

Second thing to look at is that this trilogy is now dead, it's not like with the DX11 where they could capitalise on the hype of the new film to flog a figure from the previous one, any new Bane figure now is going to be a year away which in turn is going to be 18 months since TDKR was first released so is there really going to be that much interest in Bane or TDKR after that long a period of time?

I expect by June/July Hot Toys will be done with Nolan's Batman, they'll then shift focus onto revealing their Batman Returns line, The Arkham City Figure('s) and lastly the 60's TV show.

I think you're clutching at straws in the extreme there

EDIT: Another reason why there wont be another Bane and another fact is how many Scarecrow's have Hot Toys done? 1 a Toy Fair one at that. How many Two Face's? One. How many Ra's al Ghul's? None. So why would there be more than one Bane? What because there's been 3 Joker's? That's because it's the Joker.

I would LOVE to have those things for my Bane figure, but maybe it's just me though. Having my bane pose with the microphone in one hand and the other in a waving position "Gotham! Take control......take control...of your city.." would be GREAT!

And I feel like the Barbour motor cycle jacket is a must for Bane, he was practically in that jacket for most of the movie.

I mean this jacket btw

5. TDKR ending montage
6. TDK two face showdown

While I'm already I content with this Bane figure, this I cannot deny. They pretty much went for all the main outfits for Bane (first fight, Gotham takeover, final fight). I think I mentioned before that another standard MMS would more make sense. Stock Exchange outfit is the only option at this point and since that outfit includes his leather jacket, that could definitely work as a standard release. DX feels a bit too far-fetched methinks. I love Bane and he's my fave from the trilogy but in terms of overall charisma, hype, influence (both in comic and movie format), he's certainly not as iconic as Joker.

Yeah that wouldn't surprise me. Maybe a Ra's Al Ghul and John Blake, otherwise I don't see the TDK trilogy line lasting much longer.

Weak. The best scene is when he does Gangnam style after smashing Batman's face.

with MoS around the corner and rumors of joseph gordon levitt potentially stepping into batman's place for justice league ~ there's a chance the continuity of nolan's world isn't finished. it's slim, but it's still there.

not sure what that would mean for the market, but ht does seem to love its superheroes.

"They pretty much went for all the main outfits for Bane"

:slap

how can people say this when the motor cycle jacket is NOT included? He wore it practically for the entire first half of the film.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Another thing that gets me is people are saying they'll be a DX Bane if that's the case then why not more calls for a DX Catwoman?

One final note on the DX line and where it relates to Batman is the releases have always been released in pairs;

DX01 Joker
DX02 Batman
DX08 Joker
DX09 Batman
DX11 Joker
DX12 Batman

What are they going to do release Bane on his own?

DX14 Marty Mcfly
DX15 Bane
DX16 Han Solo

Not very likely is it :dunno

He didn't wear it for practically the entire first half of the film at all, he wasn't wearing it in the plane scene at the start of the film, he wasn't wearing it when Gordan was taken hostage in the sewers and finally he wasn't wearing it in the first fight with Batman.

The first time he was seen wearing it was when they went to the Stock Exchange, he's then still wearing it very briefly as Bats and Catwoman escape Daggett's troops and then when he kills Daggett and then finally in the permission to die scene. In terms of screen time that equals about 25 minutes at the most

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Sick of hearing about a DX Bane. Joker is iconic, Batman is iconic. If you think Batman, you think Joker; Not Bane. They'd have to really stretch the term iconic to add Bane into the DX line. Bane has only been around since the 90's, Joker has been since 40's

Perhaps "main outfits" was wrong phrasing on my part, rather I'd say they went for the most "notable" ones. The leather jacket (is it leather?), while definitely one of his main looks, doesn't represent anything as memorable as the other three. Sleeveless look is the first fight (and arguably the closest to comics appearance-wise), the coat is pretty much Bane's signature "dictator" appearance during the whole Gotham revolution and finally, the sweater during the final fight. HT probably left out the leather jacket in favor of the coat and I can definitely see why based on the simple fact that the coat was more memorable and that it allows them to pin down 3 appearances in one go.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

I just don't see how some people can say that Bane isn't iconic enough for a DX, and yet, some of those same people want Devito's Penguin to be a DX. I'm not saying he's not iconic, but when I think Keaton as Batman, I think Nicholson as Joker, and, if you want to get specific, Pfeiffer's Catwoman comes to mind more than Penguin when I think about Returns. I'm not saying he's not iconic, but he's no more iconic than Bane. If they made a DX Penguin, I would expect equal treatment for Bane.
