But did the shine deteriorate over time as to appear matte (as in that photo) or were there some matte from the beginning? Mine also appeared shiny before I re-packed it, but who knows if it still would've after a couple of months exposed to dry Calgary air.
Also, in regards to the sheen, I don't recall seeing any early photos of ED with a matte finished dome. Just going off memory, but all appeared shiny to me. Would love to be wrong on that.

Mine still looks shiny like Anthrapoid says, no signs of cracking or deteriorating yet, but it doesn't have that tacky feel it had when I first got it... maybe its starting to deteriorate in this dry hot So. Cal. weather?

Every damage photo I have seen so far has had a matte-finish dome, and I'm positive it's not just a trick of the lighting. That doesn't mean I can breathe a sigh of relief that my shiny dome is immune... I'll make custom domes as soon as I'm able.

All jokes aside, the guys who are saying people should make an uproar are right. HT has been caring less and less and they get off scot-free with too much. They've been insulting us for awhile now with price hikes that are getting hard to make sense of. When something like this happens they need to start taking accountability and stop hiding behind this invisible barrier between them and the customers that they've created.
I don't want a full refund, I want an ED on my shelf. If this is an epidemic they should be blasted with emails and on FB until they have no choice but to provide replacement domes to save face
