Yeah, so it seems. Is the deterioration that widespread? Sounds like a 80/20 chance of happening from what I've read.
If I were you, I'd wait until someone figures out to make a replacement dome.

Some of us have been waiting for a couple of years at this point for someone to finally make a replacement ... and so far ... nothing.
he needed me to send him a whole ED body (to take the dome off and measure everything) during my summer vacation... which i still didn't do because my free time was cut, and i wasn't at the place where the body is kept.Doggiedoc mentioned he wanted to do one pretty recently, but I don't know what happened with that. I think he needed measurements or something.
My dome is still in one piece thankfully! I still haven't done anything to it yet. The gambling side of me wants to let it ride to see how long it goes before it starts to crack! Other than the dome issue, this thing is a stellar piece!
The problem is that it's not just the dome that will deteriorate at some point but also the rubber sleeves around the "neck", arms and legs. :/
Still looking at this and wondering whether to get it, by the time I decide there will be none left
I was thinking of ripping the destroyed rubber off of my V1, taking an impression of the groove the rubber sits in, and then casting resin piece that I could over in some sort of speaker material. Don't think the old one would be quite the same shape as the V2, though.

I offered my 3D modeling services to try and get this sort of thing done. If I could get an impression of the groove it would make it much easier to model accurately since I don't own this myself.
