Sideshow has my NRD, meaning I can't just cancel this guy.

Rubber dome is extremely disappointing. And those ugly sounds are definitely jacking up the price as well.

Goddamnit

This looks fantastic to me. Love the worn/oil drip effects, foot articulation and battle damaged cannon. Don't care much about non-movie accurate voice. Doesn't look like it will fit on a standard Detolf shelf. Long wait for Robocop ahead...

The figure itself is impressive and the amount of detail that they added is great. The disappointing aspect of it all is that they still went with the rubber dome even after the issue was so prominent in the first version. They should have gone with a more plastic mesh type of material. Can't say we won't be seeing people reporting their domes falling apart some time down the road.

The sound feature was pointless to begin with. It's a feature to be tried once unboxed and never used again anyways.

As much as this turned out to be sweet I'm disappointment that they used rubber for the dome AGAIN and the sound clips are horrible. The price point is not what this is worth. I would love this and it is really cool but I think I'll save my money for now.

You have the old one right? How is it looking now? What did you do to fix the problem?

Mine took longer than others to break down but it is now happening, seems to be worse every time I look at it. So far I've done nothing, I'll be dependant on someone offering a replacement plastic dome. Y'know, the plastic it should be in the first place because ED's dome is shiny in the film.

I followed the instructions of the repair video on YouTube and it worked out quite well!
Looked good, in my opinion even a tad better than the original rubber dome.

Yeah, I don't understand why the rubber dome in the first place?
I hope this is their improved rubber/vinyl mix though. As a material it seems reasonably solid compared to their old rubber.

Don't worry, they'll let you cancel and put your NRD towards another item (or give you your money back). Explain the situation to them and they'll understand. You won't eat the money you put down on it, I promise. Sideshow is really understanding when it comes to this stuff.

I am really tempted to get this one, since I don't own the last one - but the rubber dome stories do worry me a bit - how long can you usually enjoy ED before it deteriorates?

Yeah, I don't understand why the rubber dome in the first place?

Rubber is cheaper than plastic. Other than that, I don't get it either. A hard plastic dome would look just as good, if not better than this rubber crap. If you look closely at the edges on the seam of the dome of these new HD pics, you can see it's just an accident waiting to happen. I'd imagine the shape and curves won't do the rubber any favors considering it's stretched and mounted over that and has to conform to that stressing shape.

Would it have been so hard to put a plastic dome on the thing? Surely they received and saw all the complaints about the rubber deterioration on the last one? I mean, it's like using rubber is crucial like it is for a Batman suit or something, the wire mesh look of ED's "face"/head can still be achieved with plastic. Makes no sense.

It's also pretty bad that the NECA toy has better sound effects than this. Sure, you can hear the board members screaming, but atleast ED sounds like ED loud and clear.

:lecture :lecture :lecture

On the plus side he does still look cool and well detailed. Poseability is amazing.

Well, I guess they have been continuously using rubber now for a while, with certain components anyway. Sometimes I just don't understand the reasoning if there is any, behind it. For example the Tumbler. Fantastic hard rubber/vinyl back wheel tyres, front tyres are soft sticky rubber? I dunno, they march to their own rhythm I guess. I don't get it.

Despite the rubber thing and the sound FX (which I don't care about really) I still think this looks amazing. It's a pretty iconic piece for me, I missed V1.

Thanks for the answer, that is depressing to hear - if they can do the 89 Batmobile in one big plastic piece than ED's dome should be easy enough I think.
I don't feel much for fixing a $400+ figure. There's probably no chance for a last minute switch to plastic from HT?

Yeah, I think from the "neck" down, this thing looks amazing. I love the detail on the plastic parts. The dirt and grime bits are the best. The only thing they got wrong was all that wiring on the currents. Kind of strange that they missed out on that detail while NECA nailed it for something that's half this things size.

I opened up OMG's thread this morning and saw all these great photos, but as I was scrolling down, I was just waiting to see someone ask him if the dome was rubber. That was the clincher since day one for me. Parred with the cheap-o sound effects, I couldn't pull the trigger. My NECA ED will have to do. The nice thing about that is, the Hot Toys Robocop will be a nice shelf stealer all by it's lonesome. I get to save some $$$ too.

The only thing I want to know is, if Hot Toys check these boards out (which they do), why the hell wouldn't they take the suggestions and critiques into account from the last ED-209? All those pics of the damage, all those complaints, all those "I really hope the new one is plastic and not rubber". I mean, on their end, they've got nothing to worry about. As long as it doesn't deteriorate in a 30-60 day window, they're in the clear. Why do that to customers though? They can make big ol' plastic Batmobile's and true type bodies. What's so hard about ED's dome?

Boggles the ****ing mind.

Yep, exactly!
My first thought when I saw the video of OMG this noon and saw the ledt gun arm.

I just don't get why they don't communicate at least a bit with the fans.
And by "communicate" I don't mean those announcements on FB, I mean at least small direct replies in forumthreads or in FB comments to adress those worries regarding the dome.

Would it hurt to probably let us know if they used a better material this time that doesn't corrode (hopefully)???!!!
