Seems like the logical thing to do now, then, would be to open ones I've received recently to check for problems, while leaving older ones as is considering there's not much I could do about a problem now anyway. And opening new ones from now on sounds smart too.

I'll likely end up just putting them back once inspected though, cause I really have nowhere to put them.

Any concerns or suggestions with that plan? lol

Just pre-ordered this one... I couldn't wait any longer since they are all sold-out (on most online shops in my region).
I do hope they make a Drax though... If not, only Star-Lord will do.

My 5th Hot Toys figure and 1st Marvel one!

Happy Birthday!!!! Now reward yourself and open those figures!!!

I would open them, inspect them ie check the LEDs, all the joints and moving parts carefully, remove batteries from any that have them and return them to their plastic cocoons.

Sideshows official policy is 30 days. But if you have a damaged figure and they still have the parts on hand, they will likely help you out. Also, as long as it's a fairly recent figure released (the last 2 years or so) you will more than likely be able to find loose replacement parts for any you find damaged...at a cost of course. But that is an option if SSCs is not. But if you wait for years and then discover something is broken like say, Catwoman's goggles, in 2-4 years from now you won't be able to find that item anywhere. And if you do, the price could exceed half the cost of the figure :horror

Do yourself a favor and open those figures.

I used to hope like hell that the batteries didn't self-destruct in the figures and left all my Iron Men with their batteries intact. I decided to start removing them and sure as sh|t, the batteries had started to corrode. Not enough to do any real damage but they were degrading and leaking. Now...I remove all batteries from all my figures.

I do hope they make a Drax though...

I haven't been following the news on the Drax figure, all I know is that a prototype has been shown at events before and the figure is in development hell. This said, I'm not worried about us getting a Drax figure at some point. Worst case scenario is that they make a Drax figure from a future Guardians film, or even an Avengers film (if the Guardians end up appearing in one). Maybe his costume wouldn't match the other Guardians, but if that's the case and it's enough to annoy someone, they could always sell off their Guardians from this first film and get future versions of the characters to all match.

Drax is definitely gonna take a while, but I don't think Hot Toys will just end up never making one.

Has anyone run into an "aftermarket price" estimate for the Star-Lord Exclusives? Looking around for one, trying to decide how much I should be looking to pay..

Prob around $50 over retail for the first few weeks. Might go down. Then it'll go up high maybe in a year.

But we have to wait for these things to get to us first...

Exclusive item not worth 50.00 or more IMO. That's a lot considering the retail cost being where its at plus another 50.00 plus on top of it or more..

It's what happens to sold out stuff.

Is the Godfather HT worth $700+? The market says so but it's not any more complicated figure than our $250 super hero toys.

It's eye-opening to see all these added "struggles" in securing these toys... I live like 20 minutes away from the Sylmar, CA UPS facility my Hot Toys always come through, I usually get tracking info late in the evening, and I almost always receive the item next day. I thought they just had a good system, but I guess I'm a lot luckier than I realized...

That being said, after months of debate, after getting the "Processing Soon" email on Star-Lord, I decided to finally cancel my regular version and wait to find an exclusive version aftermarket. Can't live without that orb. To those of you cancelling/selling your exclusives, from me and others in the same boat, thank you!

Also, I'm new here. Just discovered this site about a month ago. Everyone's commentary has been very interesting to me, as a new collector. Started my Hot Toys collection at SDCC14 with IM Mark 1 (2.0). Decided to go MCU-only. I now have 11, with many more pre-ordered, but nowhere yet to put them in my one-bedroom apartment, so all 11 are still in their brown shippers, un-opened. Looking forward to the day when I have enough space and a complete-enough collection to finally take the plunge and open them up!

bro im in the same boat as you as far as space goes and im married...lol we also live in a 1 bedroom apt, and although the wife is not a huge fan of the figures, weve found a middle ground, i just built a Besta based wall entertainment unit and she compromised to give me 4 shelves to display my figures as long as it doesnt ruin the aesthetics of our small space too much, there is no way im gonna spend 2k+ total so far to have these things inside boxes....i also think of the idea that one day i might need cash and i can unload these, but im perfectly ok with the idea of losing out on a few dollars because they wont be MIB....i got the pleasure of owning them and displaying them, after all thats what its all about, otherwise you are really just paying 200$+ for some brown boxes bro....

here is my living space....at first i just had them on my computer desk but then it was just too many for that and it looked cluttered, now im super happy with my set up....and i have plenty room to double up my collection.

Congrats! Probably lots of cancels on him too after the delay with a logjam of figures hitting at once. Can't wait to get him!
