For this they'd need to sculpt the cowl and head seperately and have the cowl rest on the shoulders while the fully sculpted head slots in and pegs into the body through the cowl - that's how i'd see it as being best.

I'm sure that's how it will be done. I kind of hope he doesn't have the scratch on his face though so it isn't so scene specific. Just a regular Bruce Wayne head would be great.

I disagree...

Considering this is the only scene showing Bruce (fullface) in the Batsuit it would be better & more authentic with the scratch IMO, i don't want it to be clean just for those wanting to make customs from it, besides if one never saw the scene they'd assume it was a post-battle look what with the cowl ripped and all, so the scratch and blood make better sense for the figure than a clean head.

The scratch is easier to make for people that want it than it is to take the wound off for those that don't.

I know personally I wouldn't mind either but you know there are people out there that want a Keaton Bruce Wayne headsculpt to make a Bruce Wayne figure in the turtle neck/blue jeans, suit and tie or whatever. That's why they were clamoring for a Bruce Wayne head in the first place and why people want those "unmasked" heads, from Batman to Spider-Man.

I wouldn't make a non-Batman, casual Bruce Wayne and would probably prefer the wounds but I know I'm in the minority. Look at the other threads, especially the latest Begins Toy Fairs exclusive thread. There's someone in there that has him in his harness look and you always see those suited Wayne figures that people put together. That's why they want the head.

Yeah I'd prefer it without the scratch. As DiFabio said it'd be fairly easy to add yourself if you wanted it.

Yep. It's kind of like the Tech Noir T-800. Call me nuts, maybe you disagree, but I would have really preferred the "crazy eyes" burned off eye brows and singed hair look as opposed to the scene specific bloody version.

I appreciate these things, hell I'd love a BD '89 Batman and really like gore or damaged characters. In cases like these though, I prefer regular looks first and those variations later.

This being the first high end Keaton likeness ever, yeah, I don't really want "damage".

Well I want that head aswell :D I don't really see HT giving us that one though if they do return to T1 since theres 2 more essential heads they could do and I don't believe HT have ever provided 3 different headsculpts with a figure. Personally I wouldn't have the ability to achieve that closed eye with the cut that they did provide so I'm glad for it.

I was searching through Batman Returns stuff in anticipation for these figures and man, the marketing art was/is some of the best I've seen. I remember the graphic images all over the place in '92 and it looks like I found the artist's name, Jose Luis Garcia Lopez.
He was the man back in the day for DC, and was responsible for some of the most well recognized DC artwork around during the '80s:

I had a series of book covers at grade school that he drew.

Yeah, now that I've researched a bit on google finding the name, now I recognize a whole bunch of things from my youth that he's done. You sort of take the illustrations and images for granted, but there's someone making all of these things behind the scenes.

I guess you could say nostalgia plays huge part in it but I really like the look of the 80s and 90s Batman. The Neal Adams, Aparo, Lopez, Ordway, Steve Erwin, Super Powers, Batman movies and Animated Series looks from that time frame are pretty much my favorite.

I wasn't big on comics but damn were these images of Batman everywhere.

this is great news, im sure the penguin is going to be amazing! all the tim burton characters in both films were exremly visually stunning, creepy and sleek and cool. i actualy had just watched Returns for the first time in a while. by far the darkest batman movie made to date, full of meaning and haunting imagery and still a great batman movie and im excited to see what the results will be for this line. this year 2012 marks Batman Returns 20th anniversary for those not in the know. time sure flies huh!

MAN, I just thought of something. If he's a DX, the box insert could be his political campaign pin. That would be sweet. I still can't wait to see what Joker gets. A card? Inflatable balloons? Hopefully it's something cool and creative.

Here's some Penguin pics I found.

AND i STILL HAVE IT! in som suitcase somewhere with my other batman movie colorin books a such i had as a kid. THAT IS SO NOSTALGIC FOR ME, THANKS FOR POSTING!

I think Batman Returns is the least dated looking of the original run of Batman films.

Even with todays standards i don't think they could do the Penguin make-up better than it was in the film, Catwoman's costume too and it doesn't scream 90's like BF & B&R or the semi-50's of Batman

Yeah, even the special effects and model work hold up and are quite seamless. It has that look to it that hasn't aged, I guess sort of like Terminator 2. They both have this particular look to them as far as film production goes.

well B89 is pretty timeless looking as well, its just the prince music and certain hairstyles that make it look very 80's at times. also some of the special effects are kinda dated (cartoon joker and batman for example), but obviously thas part of the films charm. even burton said using old fashioned techniques gave the film even more of that old movie 30's/40's feel. otherwise i would agree, Returns is defiently the least dated looking, i think because of burton haveing more control, therefore less pop crap and songs that would make it seem dated (well unless you count in "superfreak" lol). both films have this really retro 1940's feel to them which i love.

Returns has less of that 40's/50's look than Batman, which is for the better i think, it still retains that gothic gotham style but with less suits and fedora's thrown in.

That's also the thing which makes me prefer Begins to Dark Knight, in Begins it's mostly taking place at night has Gotham landmarks (Arhkam, Wayne Train, narrows) and a dark atmosphere where as Dark Knight is less at night, less of a menacing "fear the Batman" suit, and looks like any generic American city like Chicago or Boston, it abandons that edgy gotham style.

i honestly think Returns had way more fedoras and 40's look especially amongst the gotham citzens and people wearing 40's retro clothing, the womens hats and all that. B89 had i think way more modern looking clothing with some old style suits thrown in every once in a while, but still felt very 80's to me.

OT - also while i do not like the nolan movies very much, i did also like begins i think more then TDK. i still think they are both pretty boring, but originally i thought BB was really stale, but compared to TDK, if i had to choose i would actually prefer begins because it felt more like a batman movie in some ways, i think mainly due to the narrows and that dirty dark "movie set" part of the city and the whole "batman saves the day and deeats the villian" thing at the end which felt more like the orginal 89 film. TDK was very sporadic and very anti climactic, evoked more of an eloongated CSI/NYPD episode then anything batman.

Painting over the poster posted in this thread :lecture ... it'll take me a lot of time and patience because I want the colors accurate but since the poster wasn't scanned, I also have to make some color corrections. :slap :gah:

I swear it'll look good once I'm done... I don't know how big everyone wants it, so I'm doing it as big as my PC will allow.

Sweet, JonD7. There'll def be demand once the figures start coming out!
I know there's a lot of love and interest in Bats and Catwoman, but my focus is definitely on The Penguin. He's got so much that he can come with, and it's thrilling to think of how he could turn out!
This is one where I really hope he gets PERS and maybe an alternate "spittle" angry face!
