Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

if it's a figure how come the pose hasn't changed from the first leak photo, to the promo shots, to magazine shoot photo, even the plastic enemies photos and this displayed figure in the con, all has the same pose? Only difference is the head gear.

For the same reason that all the fully set up pics of Iron Monger are in the same exact pose.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

For the same reason that all the fully set up pics of Iron Monger are in the same exact pose.

and that reason is?

I just checked the pics of Iron Monger from SDCC and the one they have displayed now, same pose, but not exactly. I can see and point out what differences are i.e leg, head, arm position. And there are also other pics showing Iron monger on a different pose. But for this predator, all of them has the exact same pose.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

I have no idea why, just pointing out that Hot Toys likes to pick a pose and stick with it for displays. Yeah and there's like 500 photos of Iron Monger and like two of this pred. Yes, yes, I know I am exaggerating, my point is there's not a lot of pictures to show any variation and likley the pictures that do exist where all taken at the same time. Unlike the Iron Monger that has been set up in multiple locations. There are noticeable Predators style joints at the knees and joints are the shoulders. It's hard to tell if there's similar joints at the elbows. They might not be functional yet, but they are there and they wouldn't be if it was a statue. I don't see how you can't see the joints if you know to look for them. They are there.

Also your sig is really really annoying. I felt like I was having a seizure trying to write this reply.

Wow that thing is awesome! Looks like a staue after all. Maybe some limited articulation. Overall pretty cool.

Great job on the pics evangelinus!

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

It's amazing how much more "human" Predators seem to be getting

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

It's not a statue.

Actually it is. Damn.. people are still debating this!? :slap

It's one dude.

It's two guys, and neither of them work for HT. Yuji Oniki sculpted it and Takayuki Takeya designed and painted it. Both of those guys have done numerous pieces for Fewture Models.

And that's my problem with this piece. The body looks too human-like. Put a human head on it, and have it standing on a pile of dead bodies, and I'd think it was awesome. I'm just not into the "pop-art Predator concept" stuff.

That, and the xeno heads look like Coney Island hot dogs.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

Thank you Evangelinus for this superbe set of photos.
An impressive piece...but what HT is gonna do with it?

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

I love predators, but this is way out of context for me. I figure, this will be for those that already like the creative predator statues like the Narin ones.

he keeps giving his preds horse teeth.

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

Clearly, those newer pics show that this unequivocally a statue diorama, no limited articulation, maybe... just maybe, interchangeable heads mask/no mask. But the first HT Photo on page 1 and the one Sgt Slaughter pointed out, clearly have joints under armpit and at elbow. Is it beyond the realm of possibility that that is the prototype for the 1/6 figure?

Re: Hong Kong Ani-Com 2011: Hot Toys SAMURAI PREDATOR (Collectible Statue)

That things dreads look like long springs.

Yes. Because..

1. If HT had a prototype for the 1/6 scale figure already that was good enough for photos they would've shown it at the same show.

2. HT is gonna need a license from FOX to make/sell that Predator figure. So any pics from HT showing the 1/6 scale figure will have a FOX logo/trademark on it.

3. HT had to change up the initial announcement (from their FB page) to clarify the fact that the photo (posted on page 1/HT's FB page) was actually a picture of the statue and not a 1/6 scale figure. And that the 1/6 scale figure from HT (inspired by this statue) would be announced later.

i really dont wanna get flammed for this but why is everyone stating with certainty that this is a statue. there are a good amount of joints on the thing i.e. knees, elbows, and shoulder. unless hot toys says clearly its a statue in a product spec page i really dont understand why someone says its one or another. just wait and see what it is.

Read the statement below. That makes waaayyyyy more sense than other member's factual opinions they litter this thread with.
