I think the modern Cap will look better beside my MkIV than the WWII Cap

I didn't even consider that since seeing anything for Avengers from HT is probably close to a year away.

Well let's assume that HT is working on this now. Why? I have a feeling they'll want both Cap and Iron Man out in May when the film is out similar to what they did with Thor especially since the Iron Man tooling isn't that far off of what they've established other than coloring and chestplates and Cap will most likely be a costuming issue and HS to match the molded cowl. I think they'll go this route because they in theory might have a full team to be out for the film which means just from that poster a possible 7 figures. 2 for Q2, 2 for Q3 and probably 3 for Q4 with the Hulk coming in the later end of the year.

That means we'll see a Preview and Order in January of next year which means we'll get teases probably in December (if they follow the Thor idea) so we are only about 4 months give or take from seeing some HT Avenger product.

Could be, could be. They are working faster turn around times instead of the promos for a film's product showing up three months after the video release like the old days.

For whatever reason (I'm guessing molding complexity) the Iron Man figures still are taking like a year between preview and release.

I think the Iron Man 2 figures took longer because of the change of the bodies from the Mark III base to the Mark IV base. I don't think you'll get too radical of a change from the Iron Man 2 base body to the Avengers. Plus HT will have Iron Man 3 figures to think about the very next year so they'll push Avengers IM out sooner than later so if there is more than one Mark they can capitalize and then still support his next film.

I do. There is no "base" figure with the Iron Man figures. Other than what are essentially repaints of the same mold like the IV/VI and the II/III it's not like they can use anything from the Mark IV/VI to do the VII except maybe the head and hands.

Not really. I would argue, and have argued, that it shares more similarity with the Mark III. Even that said, that different styling means all the molds need to be different.

The Mark IV and VI are just different in the upper torso and the paint job. Not the entire sculpt.
