Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

The timing would also be important though. My assumption is most Keaton Batman fan also appreciate Nolan Batman movies without going into the waste-of-my-time question of which is better but both are great. Now if Tumbler has not been released yet I would agree Keaton Batmobile will outsell the Tumbler. But being the other way around there is no guarantee of that unless I guess with the increase in value of the Tumbler some may jump ship, sell the Tumbler for profit to reinvest into the Keaton Batmobile.

I'm sure there are plenty of folks who never got the Tumbler that would be interested in the '89 Batmobile. I never considered getting the Tumbler, but I would be very tempted by the '89 Batmobile.

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

I'll be honest. I love Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, but as far as vehicles go, I only like the Batpod.

I never liked the Tumbler since it's conception and was happy to see it get demolished and destroyed in The Dark Knight. It just never appealed to me like the '89 Batmobile, Batwing and Batpod vehicles have. It was big, loud and clunky and I don't recall any cool factors until it revealed the Batpod. That was fantastic and it set the scene for a superior vehicle, the Batpod.

Because of this, I obviously don't own the Hot Toys Tumbler. I thought about the Hot Toys Batpod, but I never owned the V1 TDK figure, just the DX.

The '89 has been a personal favorite of mine for years. I love it's dynamic design and functionality. It really is a great piece of iconography. Also, being a kid at the time of it's appearance in the films, I have some nostalgic memories for it.

Buying a possible Hot Toys '89 Batmobile is a no brainer. For me anyway.

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

I've got the same nostalgic memories about the 89 batmobile too. I remember just trying to catch a glimpse of it during commercials on tv. And even beyond the nostalga it's an impressive design. Even those that have no attachment to the movie acknowledge that.

Yes. That and the Elfman theme. They're both pretty much synonymous with Batman.

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

I hated the Tumbler design, but the 89 Batmobile is beautiful. I would be hard pressed to not buy one if HT makes it. :panic:

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

You mean to tell me the cars from BF and BaR with their bouncing rear bat wing spoilers aren't just as iconic :lol

Crap, I wanted those in 1/6 scale. :monkey1

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

Liked both, hope Nolan somehow merges both designs into one rockin' Batmobile in TDKR.

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

Hmm sad to see the lack of love for the Tumbler here but I guess you guys explained it well with the place the '89 movie has with you boys. For me I loved the Batmobile from 89 for that movie at the time.. saw it even at an exhibit but much like I feel a lot more drawn to TDK and all it's nuances I have come to love the militaristic cold and hard edges of the tank like Tumbler. In Begins the Tumbler and the movie did not overwhelm me as much but somehow the Tumbler creeped up on me and found a place in my heart. Much like the two movies both of which I can love but TBH if I have to rank the two or anything as a mater TDK is my current #1 and so is the Tumbler and so are the suits. Like I said elsewhere luckily I don't have to pick and choose

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

While we're on the subject of Batmobile's and Tumblers,

The one thing I always found it interesting about the Tumbler was that awful looking camo it had before it became black. It reminded me of this, which, oddly enough came first,

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

I have the non-camo version of that toy. Much better looking than the earlier one without the roof.

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

Yeah, it's fantastic. I have TDKC (regular black), Returns (regular black) and Camo variations. It's a great vehicle.

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

Saying HT couldve been more creative isnt complaining. When HT make their figures and vehicles, they make them based on how they appear on screen, not how they appear on set.

Well, like i said, in real life it was IMPOSSIBLE to make the interior complete with the full range of gizmos AND functional at the same time. I refer to the sliding roof wich was not possible to make in the driven car.

So if its impossible in real life, the same can be transfered to 1/6 scale.
Hot toys tried their best: you got the seats, the tunnel, driving stick, steering wheel and some screen and buttons. And even the correct sliding mechanism!
Remember in the driven tumbler the opening mechanism just popped open in 1 piece....
Only compromise was the gizmos in the slide were left out.

Agreed, they could have made the limited buttons and screens that they did include look a bit more real....
So if you were talking bout that, than I agree. But if you wished they included EVERYTHING like from the set interior, than i dont agree because that was impossible in the real car to start with, let alone in a scaled down version.

Lol nobody will buy a tumbler when the keaton batmobile gets out! :)

You would have to sell the tumbler for peanuts! Lol

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

I love the 89 Batmobile, it has the classic Batmobile look. But I also love the Tumber design. It has a get your ass out of the way before I run it over look and is straight out of The Dark Knight Returns.

If HT makes it, I'll have both displayed on the shelf.
