Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

I love the 89 Batmobile, it has the classic Batmobile look. But I also love the Tumber design. It has a get your ass out of the way before I run it over look and is straight out of The Dark Knight Returns.

If HT makes it, I'll have both displayed on the shelf.

:yess::clap:yess:

Both are gorgeous, both deserve praise and ownership.

But here is the tough question, if you could only have one :horror, which would it be?

For me:

Drum Roll please....

89 Batmobile :horror

TDK Batman would be allowed to sit in it so that he doesn't look all lonesome and broke w/o his Tumbler. :lol

89 might not leap, might not be capable of running over bad guys, might not be able to take sharp turns w/o the assistance of a cable hook and is really way too long of a vehicle to be good at anything other than going fast in a straight line.

But damn if it isn't the most beautiful pop culture thing ever created, not just for a Batman movie, but for any movie!

Bring it on, I need redemption from my massive failure of cancelling my Tumbler preorder just because the production was delayed :lol.......wait......:slap :gah:

couldn't agree more, a must have (if you are into movies and into scale models :) )

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

At the price and space use of 1/6, the Tumbler just doesn't work for me, Geil' sig image sums it up.

I see Batman standing next to it, which is the only safe display option to not damage Batman's suit, and I just don't feel like there's a connection between the two, I feel like you could stick John Connor next to it and it would seem like some futuristic Terminator vehicle. You can display it without a Batman figure near it, and it's a cool looking vehicle but I wouldn't give up the space or spend more than $50 for it.

That Keaton Batmobile and Batman look like they go together, might just be press images burning the idea into my head, but it's just how I feel.

I totally agree... especially about the connection with the tumbler... it's never remotely seemed like a Batmobile to me, just some tank that could easily fit into any action movie.

Yeah, that's just 22 years of love, marketing and passion driving your feelings :lol which is all good :rock

In the measly few years since BB and TDK, the Tumbler is as much Bale Batman for me as the 89 car is for Keaton's Batman.

C'mon, who doesn't want to display their Keaton Batman with the Tumbler and Bale Batman with the 89 car :horror :horror :horror

Make for some funny comments :lol

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

I'm just used to a Batmobile having blatant bat designs in it.

For better or worse with some of those designs, but, it's what I grew up watching and seeing, so it's what I'm used to. I grew up watching reruns of the Adam West show, then it was onto '89 and so forth.

Just looking at that photo of the Batman & Robin car makes it look like a pretty damn good Batmobile... i've never seen it without all the stupid lights and neon everywhere.

With muted colour it looks really nice.

Valid point, I think I know why.

Tumbler was specifically mentioned as a military vehicle built by Wayne enterprises, not Batman himself.

89 car is just Batman's car....one assumes built by Batman himself with his own tastes and needs vs a whole bunch of engineers for the Tumbler.

So I can see the disconnect....one was built for pure destruction before Batman even existed.

The other (89) just exists.....mysterious and brooding, only Batman knows of its creation.....ok, maybe Alfred :lol

Nah, it's just that, compared to all the examples I posted, there's nothing about it that says, this is Batman's vehicle, where the other Batmobiles look so much like his car, you'd think, who the hell else would be driving this. Like I said, I could see John Connor looking natural behind the wheel of the Tumbler as much as Batman.

That's really my problem, you've hit the nail on the head. It's just so impersonal... it could be anyones vehicle.

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

I remember owning the Forever toy car. Good stuff.

I'm not ashamed to admit, I still like the Forever Batmobile. I've always liked the blue glow coming from the engine. I wish Hot Wheels would make a 1:18 of that one with working lights.

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

Interesting thing is as Spike is reshowing Burton's Batman, the Batwing itself was never shown to be that big in proximity. It looked to be about as big as the Batmobile....I wonder if HT is considering that as a possible vehicle as well, their first entrance into 1/6 ships...

Well, that was kinda my point...I was agreeing with you, work with me :lol

I agree, the Tumbler was built not by Batman, just by his company and it's a military vehicle that can be used by Jason from Friday the 13th to do his killings.

The 89 car IS BATMAN....

But I still love the Tumbler regardless :lol

It's not a huge vehicle overall, I think the issue people have with that at 1/6, at least for me, is it's as wide as long, maybe even bigger, so you have too dimensions to worry about for space. That Batmobile would be long but not very wide.

The Toynami Batmobile is 12" wide by 29" long, almost a 1:3 ratio, so the biggest concern with that would be finding a 3 foot wide space, 12" deep isn't hart to come by.

The Toynami Batwing is 23" inches long by 28" wide, basically 1:1, finding a space like that would be trickier.

I thought you were trying to say it was pyschological because of Fox pointing out it was made for the military, which is what I was arguing against. They could have set up the story to make you think Wayne built it, ultimately, it's the design that doesn't make the connection for me, no matter how it's arrived at.

It's funny you should post that... i was just contemplating getting one of the Bandai light up Forever Batmobiles this morning off ebay.

I've always loved the giger-eque Forever batmobile... it's my second favourite after the 1989 Car.
